Guest guest
, Our son had bowel movements less frequently when we were using the intro diet. He went from having an average of two stools a day to not having a bm for about four or five days. Keep in mind that for the most part the foods that Luke is eating are binding foods. I would give him diluted grape juice a couple of times a day, and see if that helps. You can also try prune juice if the grape juice doesn't do anything. Personally, I wouldn't be quite so concerned if the stools are every other day. I think that he will go back to an every day routine once a few more foods are introduced. I'm so happy for you guys that you're already noticing more cognition. I bet you'll see even more once the rice milk is totally done away with. Keep up the hard work. Guest guest
He may be making better use of his nutrients at this point... and some kids do have constipation issues on SCD. But, your son is not really on SCD yet... if he's still getting rice milk. So, it's really difficult to say exactly what's going on. Once a child is 100% on SCD, the parents often report all kinds of changes in BM color, consistancy and frequency. Can you perhaps attempt to switch out the rice milk with some homemade coconut milk (recipe on www.pecanbread.com)? Add a bit of honey and vanilla and he may surprise you. He is not eating ANY vegetables?? I would highly recommend you find some way to get some in. Check out the " sneaky " recipes on pecanbread.com... and the " Picky Eaters " section in the " Overcoming Difficulties " tab. By the way, ripe bananas are considered to be more binding than laxative. Patti stool frequency / consistency Hello friends - Since starting SCD our sons stools have improved quite a bit, but aren't quite to normal consistency or frequency. As predicted by SCD, his stools have gone from mostly clayish masses to nearly formed logs, but with a little bit of mushiness. This isn't all together unexpected, as he is still getting small amounts of illegal carbs as we gradually bring him down off rice 'milk'. What I'm finding strange, however, is that we are down to about 1 stool every other day. Did anyone else experience a lessening in stool generation when starting on SCD? Luke was pretty much a one stool a day guy on GF/CF for the past year. His diet primarily includes: ripe bananas well cooked pears eggs a variety of meats such as bacon, chicken, steak, and turkey. He's eating a LOT of bananas, two a day probably, and I'd think that this would be enough to have him regular, at the least, but we aren't seeing it. We've also seen some significant cognitive (pointing) and fine motor improvements since starting SCD. (Yes!) Any insight is appreciated. brian
Guest guest
brian, thsi is in no way scientific but merely my observations with my own 2 boys. i have one son who tended to be constipated and the other tended to be loose (yet daily). after starting scd the stools improved for both boys. the one who tended to be loose however did begin to go less often after starting the diet. i think it took a certain amount of time for the intestine to do its job. when we added probiotic powder they tended to be more formed. it wasnt till we switched to SCD cow yogurt that we saw daily formed stools. and amazingly enough this was after doing almond yogurt for about a year. so i highly recommend either cow or goat scd yogurt (and of course getting out the rest of the illegal carbs - but you already know that). i am wondering if you know that many have found that if they started at intro diet they have seen better results. you might want to start over after getting the last of the illegals out. d. > > Hello friends - > > Since starting SCD our sons stools have improved quite > a bit, but aren't quite to normal consistency or > frequency.
