Guest guest
Thanks for the update Marsha - its comforting to hear from those who have just crossed to the other side. And good luck to everyone who has surgery over the next few weeks. I hope to join the group during the first week of October, if I can get everything from my PCP so I can submit my packet by the end of next week. Waiting is so hard - can't wait to get approved and on the schedule! - waiting in Chicago 3-days post-ops here--all going great! > Hi all: > > Well, just wanted to log-on and let all of you know how the three of > us are doing: myself, Marsha Biggs, Lundahl, and Marjory Sumlin. > We had the MGB surgery on Wed., Aug. 30, and we're all doing just > fine. Guest guest
Hi all: Well, just wanted to log-on and let all of you know how the three of us are doing: myself, Marsha Biggs, Lundahl, and Marjory Sumlin. We had the MGB surgery on Wed., Aug. 30, and we're all doing just fine. To say that the surgery was a " piece of cake " I think would be overstating it, but we've all agreed that we have felt worse pain in our lives. The last 3 days have felt like you've done about 100 situps, but it is getting better every day. We're all still here in Durham, awaiting the Tuesday clinic to get our staples removed. The clinic is a lot of fun, meeting your support group, and you also learn a lot from it. Dr. Rutledge is extremely easy-going, and answers all the questions you have. The important part is to " walk, walk, walk " after surgery to get the " gas " out of your system. We can't emphasize that enough as you'll feel so much better. We were fortunate that we had 5 MGB patients right next to each other, so sometime during the day or night, you had one or another check up on you to see how things were going! Support is extremely important! Two of us are in the same hotel, and I would recommend that highly when you have a surgery date to 'room' next to another MGB. That way when you have questions or certain things happen to you, you can discuss it with them and feel better when the other person has experienced the same thing. We're all glad to be " on-the-other-side " now, and am looking forward to a new and healthier future. Take care, and write us when we get back (around Sept. 6) and we'll be glad to fill you in on any information you need. Keep hanging in there...it WILL be worth it!
