Isn't five months early for the fontenelle to close? My doctor was concerned that it was closed at 12 months. That, plus her below 3rd percentile head, and the flatness is what prompted our referral to the neurosurgeon. Maybe it's not closed all the way? just too much for the ultrasound?

Yes, you are correct, too closed for the ultrasound. They said from what they saw, they think everything is fine, so they said Blake will not need the Cat scan, but it took a WEEK for them to tell me that. I was so frustrated...Something that takes a couple minutes to decide, took a week! But that is medicine for ya, I know .. I see it all the time unfortunately, since I am an RN in the ICU. But at least that is good news. I will post after Tues. visit to Hanger

Blake is also in the 3rd percentile in head circ., but you are right, too closed to see on the ultrasound, but from what they saw, it was ok. We have a craniofacial team appt. 3/11, that includes the neurosurgeon. Unfortunately our Pediatrician does not seemed concerned about anything, so I researched myself and called my daughters craniofacial team (she was born with a bilateral cleft lip) and th was how Blake was diagnosed with the tort and plagio. I followed my gut, please everyone ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR GUT!!

Hi everyone!

So...we went to the Hanger in Torrington, CT yesterday! Had a great experience! The staff was tremendously great, friendly, patient, no rushing!! We are going there for sure. Blake was evaluated and they did the scan and the helmet will be ready in 2 weeks. the clinician was very nice, took his time, and allowed for my tons of questions. I made the process easier by filling out the registration papers at home (download and print out from Hanger website), they were impressed by that. They called my insurance company as we stepped out of the door, and by the time I got home within like 10-15 min, they called me, and said, my insurance is covering it 100%!!!! woo hoo!!!! I told them about our chats, and told them they may be getting more babies soon, after our visit
