Guest guest
Hi everybody, hoping you all are making progress, I hope someone can help us with the following: Anya had to ingest this morning strawberry flavored, sweet barium to get an xray of her small intestine to rule out Crohns disease. What adverse reaction can we expect? She is about to conclude her prescribed intake of Prednisolone, after 34 days of treatment and is still taking 6MP (Mercaptopurine). She has been on scd for the same period Diarrhea is under control since the third day, and had no setbacks. Only a few days of unformed stools. This has ocured also in the last couple days. After adding ground liver and string beans to the diet. Best of look to all, and thanks again Julio & Araceli Anya, 3 y.o. grandaughter UC diagnosed 5/24/06 SCD started 5/28/06 Meds: Prednisolone (tapering), Mercaptopurine

She may have no reaction or she may have diarrhea - it is hard to say because everyone is different. Since she is having (mostly) formed stools she " probably " won't have to bad of a reaction. If she does have a reaction you can either use safe foods for a few days or do the intro for a day or two to flush it out. Guest guest
Dear Julio and ARaceli, I would call this an infraction of sorts, even though it was medical necesity. I have been told for infractions to take more accidolphilus and eat more yogurt. If it causes diarrhea, it was suggested to me to go back to intro foods for two days. Even if she doesn't have diarrhea or symptoms, if I was you I would start over with intro and then go back to where you wehre after a few days of eating easy to digest foods. The complex carbs in that barium can't help but be feeding bad gut guys! I would think that you now would need to starve them out and trade them in for good gut guys! I am guessing from our past screw ups, that the entire process probably wouldn't take more than three days to get back on track. Hope this helps, Antoinette (celiac, IBS)mom to Kiki-2 (celiac/IBD,asd,pdd) SCD 2/
