Guest guest
The poor woman is buried alive with the phone etc... I called and she had 3 phone calls ahead, They said she would call back, but I dont know how, SHe cant get free for even a minute. I am going to have to put a device on myphone that shocks me if I attempt to call their number. Its so hard when you get so close you can taste it. ( You know we all have a great sense of taste LOL). Guest guest
I would love to. I saw Dr. R's note about reading alot of packets and turning alot of people down. I fear I am one of them, since I didn't hear anything today. Its this insurance stuff. I thought I was okay going as a self pay, I have the money, but since My Dr. is a part of my insurance, I couldn't yet get a letter from her about everything, since they dissapproved. I thought I could have the History and Physical at Dr. R's thought I read him post that t someone. Iknow my Dr. will follow me and see me if I make an appointment, But I don't think she can put anything in writing since she is an agent of the insurance and they denied. This was my last hope. I am really bumbed. Although I havent heard I'd been rejected or turned down, I guess I'm just at the point were it seems to goo to be true. Think I'll go eat everything in sight. I will be thinking and praying for you. You will do great. You have the best surgeon anywhere, I can tell. I am in the Healthcare Administrative Field and I have researched well. He's the best. Guest guest
Bob - I've been reading your posts but I'm not that familiar with anyone so I get confused. I know you are just going to self-pay, right? I was getting to e-mail you and say " I've only got one other littermate for the week of 8/21 join us " But I know that you are ready to go. I made myself wait until that week to give my family time to get organized. I shouldn't have purchased airline tickets but if you don't get them enough time they jack the rates way up. Also, pain- I don't like it either but it(MGB) has been compared to a gallbladder lap surgery and that was a piece of cake! I wanted to go home hours after and went to the mall the next day. So that's what I'm keeping in my head. Isn't this so exciting?? Update: I found this email I was typing to you when I got boot off. So I'm going to send it now. also if you didn/t do your package right go back, Take a deep breath, relax and do it right, the time will come-I've been waiting 3 months since my insurance approved me to make sure it was OK for my liver. Guest guest
-Hi Bob, Even if this packet is rejected, you can still pull it together better and apply again, I think. It is not time to despair yet. You haven't been waiting as long as half of us yet. I can't believe how long some of these faithful posters have been working and praying their way toward surgery. Practice just a little patience. I don't get the connection with your doctor not being able to say she will follow you. You are not asking your insurance to pay now. She just needs to say that as a professional she will work in conjunction with Dr. R. and the follow up test he requires and be aware of how your body will be different. What if you had emergency surgery out of network on vacation and insurance didn't pay, would she not work professionally with the post op instructions from that surgery?? I bet she will cooperate if you talk to her about it. I do not see a conflict of interest. She could be on the board of an insurance company that " wrongly " chooses not to cover WLS and still think that WLS is a good option for you or at least a viable option. What am I missing? Sorry if this sounds harsh - hang in there, bud! You got to want it! Laurie in Ohio

Get a new PCP. You don't *have* to be a slave to a lousy insurance company and worse, have a doctor who is more worried about an insurance contract than her Hippocratic oath and her duty to her patients. You couldn't pay me to go to a doctor like that.
Guest guest
The 21st would be great. I guess my packet just seemed so little. Had My Letter, Fmaily Letter, Pictures and 10 contacts. Nothing from PCP cause insurance didn't approve, I wantd to get my physical at Dr. R's. I read a post that he would do that. I guess the follow-up might be the issue. But I onlylive 3 hours from him. I would drive ther every day and have him follow-up but maybe he is too busy. I would just like to hear something, to tell me if there is just 1 or2 more things I need t do to get a date. A little more contact would be nice, but again i know they are swamped.
Guest guest
Bob, I think you need a history and physical from your PCP, and you also need a letter from your PCP stating that he/she will follow you after your surgery. I don't think that Dr. Rutledge has time to follow you after. The post you saw about him doing an exam was only if your insurance requires it, I think. BCBS requires that you are examined by the surgeon before they will give approval. At least that is how mine was, and I know many others were. Unless you are lucky enough to have fighting for you, then you don't need to see him before you are approved. is really wonderful, she has done so much for so many people on this list. She knows how much Dr. Rutledge has helped so many people, and she helps him to help more. Just take your time and get the things you need for your packet, and I am sure you will make it!
