Guest guest
Sherry, A lot of heavy people have a fatty liver. Some of those people get what is called NASH-nonalcholic steatal hepatitis. Which means not caused by alchol , fatty inflamed liver. I think only 20% of people with fatty liver get NASH. losing weight can help reduce the fattiness of the liver. In persons with NASH, rapid weight loss can worsen it. I have NASH and just got the go ahead for surgery. I think a few months of rapid weight loss will not harm me irrevocably. I had to have a Hepatologist give me the go ahead before DR. R would do a MGB on me, he was worried about causing great damage. It may cause some but I feel the advantages out weight the disadvantages.(Lossing weight reduces fattiness in livers long term). My liver emzmes were up for several months. I had a liver biopsy to find this out. He may shorten the number of feet, I'm not sure yet, but that would be ok with me ,I don't want to suffer with long term problems with vitaim deficiencies. I think you can loss the weight it may take alittle more work.

Guest guest
, So glad you are doing great. Good for you! My PCP thinks I have a fatty liver. I wasn't aware that could decrease the amount bypassed. If Dr. R does not bypass as much, and your weight loss is slowed, ultimately WILL YOU LOSE THE SAME WEIGHT AS SOMEONE WHO HAD THE " LONGER BYPASS VERSION " ? I am very concerned about this. I want to lose 100 pounds or more...... How can I get my liver " unfatty " quickly? lol Hope all continues to go well for you. If anyone else has any info on this, please let me know. sherry pre-op Virginia > A couple of the girls up here had fatty livers. When this happens he does not bypass quite as much, as the liver cannot handle a rapid weight loss. > > ***He told me that I had a beautiful liver***
