Guest guest
Kathleen(Tx) Dog gone the Dr.'s anyway. Yes there is a higher risk of everything when you go on the higher doses of pred but what is the alternatives. I was on higher than 30 mg of pred and I know there are/were some in the group that take higher doses than that. Each of us is different and it is too bad that the Dr. don't realize that! I think Heidi should hire herself out to patients with Dr. who wont listen! Wouldn't they have their hands full with her! I will be sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Call him back and tell him it isn't working and he needs to do more. Do you take pain meds? Lots of Love Glenda Hi all! Well, I was at 15 mg of pred and doing fine and then my nose and throat started to flare. I called the rheumy to see what to do. He told me I could go up to 20 mg, but that the risk for avascular necrosis increases at 20 mg or above. So what am I supposed to do? I went up to 20 mg and it isn't cutting it. I feel like a bad patient because I want to up more and get RID of the pain. Does anyone else have a doctor that doesn't want you to take too much pred? What have you done? We have talked about me going on MTX. Maybe that would do the trick. My next appt. isn't until the 24th, though and I don't want to suffer... I like Heidi's point that we are paying their salaries, but damn, it doesn't feel that way!!!! Is that a class they teach in med school -- "How to keep your patients in line?" Guest guest
Glenda, Thanks for the reply. No, I don't take any pain meds. He offered to write a prescription for a narcotic, I don't remember the name and I said no thanks. I have read what some have said about Ultram. I may have to ask him about it. I really don't like how narcotics make me feel... Kathleen (Tx) Re: [k] Pred ?Kathleen (Tx) Kathleen(Tx) Dog gone the Dr.'s anyway. Guest guest
Kathleen(Tx) Ultram is the wonder drug as far as I am concerned and there are a few others here who feel the same way. I have never had a problem with it and I was told it is non narcotic and non additive. Still I only take it when necessary. It takes away the pain and doesn't cause drowsiness or impair me in anyway. Remember that this is just me. Others may say different but I have not heard one bad thing about it. Please ask your Dr. for something for the pain. I can live with RP but not the pain.
