Kaye,

I am taking a hormone to start my period again because I haven’t had one for

8 months. I have taken it for 2 days and have had severe pain those two

days. It started immediately when I took the first dose. MY mom is worried

about me because we had already figured out that when I have my period that

I have an attack. I woke up at 530 this morning sick to my stomach and

spent 20 minutes standing over the toilet waiting to get sick. I never got

back to sleep and my mom came in at 740 with my niece for me to watch her.

I am scared to take the pills because I don’t want to wind up in the

hospital again. I am going to have to talk to this OB. I just started

going with her and the only reason we were trying the pills is because she

had tested me for early menopause but that came back negative. I can’t

really recommend anything because I know every time a hormone is involved

with me I have an attack. I hope you get the answer you want.

You just hit the nail on the head with your description of no periods, etc. My

ob-gyn said there is some kind of pill they can give you to bring on your

period. I haven't tried it yet, I am going to though the next time I miss more

than 2 periods. I had the pre-menopause test done also and it was negative. My

dr. thinks it is from the malnourishment. What does your dr. think it is? It

would be interesting to see how many of us have this same problem.

I also am no having any periods. My OB/GYN thought it was a combo of

malnutrition and anemia in my case. She's not sure about starting me on

pills to start it up again because so many of the birth control pills

can cause pancreatitis (I know, I had a case from that once when I

restarted my birth control pills too soon after getting out of the

hospital from another attack). Reminds me, need to talk that over with

my PCP. Just thought I'd add my two cents.

Kimber,

Well at least I am not alone in this. It can be frustrating! By the way aren't

you taking a blood thinner? If not I am sorry but my memory isn't what it used

to be. Any way I just in the Sunday paper that if you take a blood thinner not

to drink Cranberry juice for UTI's because it will c ause the blood thinner to

act all at once can cause severe internal bleeding. I just want to make sure

you know that.

yes I am on a blood thinner and thanks for the tip. I guess it's a good

thing that I don't like Cranberry juice at all, not even mixed with

other juices. Oh well, one more thing to avoid. I don't read the paper,

so I'm glad you told me this.
