Guest guest
Hi all, I'm a 35 yr old female, non-drinker. I've been having sporatic stomach problems for the last 5 or so yrs. The last couple of weeks have gotten pretty bad though. My Gastro has said that an tests show that my pancreas is slightly inflamed, and a blood test shows that I might have pancreatitus. Besides drinking, what causes this? The pain is upper abdomen, mostly left side and gets worse at night, particularly when I lay down. Sometimes the pain radiates into my chest and nearly everynight into my back. I'm due to call my docter on Monday. I went into the ER last week and they prescribed Donnatal and Mylanta. The Donnatal makes me very sleepy so I only take it at night. It's a Barbituate and has Phenobarbital in it; does'nt do that much for pain, except to help me sleep. What therapies are you all under? I have yet to be admitted into the hospital, but if the pain continues at night, that might be the next step. There is also a cyst on my right ovary, I'm wondering if that might have anything to do with the pain, although I doubt it, since the pain is nowhere near there. Anyone with a similar story? I am very heavy, although the doctor does not seem to think that has anything to do with this condition. I'd really appreciate any and all information. Good luck to you all, and may you be in good health. - - , Southern California
Guest guest
, I am also a 35 yr old female in So Cal. I am also on the heavy side so don't think you have to be skinny to have this disease. What dr. are you seeing? Has he given you any enzymes to help digest your food. You don't say what test you have had done, or if you have any vomiting or diarrhea. These things are also par for the course with this illness. There is a really wonderful Dr here in Los Angeles by the name of Dr. Simon Lo, he is at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. You may want to see if you can get in with him. He is the head of the research dept there for the pancreas diseases. Is the dr. you are seeing now experienced in the pancreas disease issues? You also don't say if this is the first time you have been sick. Most of us are almost always sick with some good days and some bad days. I am glad you found us, we will do our best to help you.
