Guest guest
Dear fellow post-ops, I'm 3 weeks post op today and am trying to learn if how I feel is pretty typical or not. Generally, every day, I feel queasy. Not nauseated, not vomiting, but just an unsettled 'yuck' feeling. The feeling starts from the back of my throat and extends downward. Sometimes the salty juices/broths make me feel better, sometimes not. A couple times, mashed potatos made the feeling go away. Crackers don't help, neither does Gatorade. Yesterday and today, I have some soreness in my abdomen when I take a deep breath or drive over bumps. Some days, I feel kind of bloated and 'burpy'. Bowels - no problems. Am taking my post-op meds as directed. No fever. I've contacted Dr.R - so I don't need you to tell me this. What I am hoping for is to hear from others of you that may have felt this way for awhile. Did it go away with time? When, how long? Did you discover some eating/drinking tricks to alleviate these feelings? If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Kind regards, Debbie MGB 27 Jun 00 BMI41
Guest guest
Hi-- You're in the dreaded 3-5 week time period that I hated most. It's when your brain has to start getting used to the idea of how much you eat now and at the same time, food doesn't feel " fun " at all anymore -- and all of that is traumatic!!!!! Especially if you think it will *always* be like that. I whined and complained all through this period, ask anybody on the list. However, it *DOES* pass. Yes it does. You are going through a major re-education period for your body and brain, along with some temporary things that make it seem worse. Food will be fun again. I'm 3 mos. post-op and this just happened in the last 2-3 weeks for me. So don't despair.
