Guest guest
Could anybody please explain how the ear correction works with a helmet/band? Does the affected ear moves back? or rather the other ear moves forward? or both?

Guest guest
I'm no expert on ears, since my dd didn't have this problem. However the way I understood it, the ears are anchored to the skull base. So when the base shifts back into place by redirecting the growth, the ears will improve. Since it takes a long time for the skull base to shift, ears take a long time to correct. The skull is made up of many plates, sort of like a puzzle. With plagio they are not in the right position, but if you get them back in place the ears will follow. Hope that makes sense. -christine sydney, 3 yrs, starband grad > > Could anybody please explain how the ear correction works with a > helmet/band? Guest guest
thats how it was explained to me too, since the bones of the skuill base are so small and there are more to work with it takes much longer for them to correct and my sons ears were the last to correct. Guest guest
I also wondered how long it would take and when I did not think regular PT was helping, we opted to take her to St. s- Pain Treatment Center. We see the founder, St. , who has experience working with infants and dealing with tort. In the first treatment he noticed her ears weren't aligned and worked on the skull base. He was extremely pleased that he was able to see great results just after one treatment. He was even more happy to see that they stayed aligned in the second treatment. Dina is doing much better with her tort and he is mainly working on re-aligning her.
