Guest guest
Debbie (fivebugsonaleaf) had lost 22 pounds as of day 12. Dreema has long 25 pounds at two weeks. I weighed at 11 days (on the clinic scales) and had only lost 11. Now, I'm not sure that those scales can be considered accurate--they get moved all the time and I think that throws the calibration off. My home scales don't show ANY weight loss! Plus, I read where a recent post-op said she's eating frozen fruit and juice bars, and can eat about 1/2 of one. I can eat a whole one! Other than some uncomfortable feelings when I try to eat something that doesn't agree with me, I have no problems with eating! Only once or twice have I gotten a " full " feeling. I can mix a can of 's cream of chicken soup, strain the chicken out, and finish all the liquid! Don't get me wrong--I'm terribly happy for everyone who is losing so wonderfully. I just want to be in the same category!
Guest guest
Kathi, I TOTALLY understand what you're going through. I went through it too. I thought I was the only one who wouldn't lose weight. At one month, I had only lost 24 lbs. Now I'm almost 3 mo. (the 22nd) and I've lost 47. I still think I won't lose any more, even as I continue to do so! You're not doing anything wrong. I eat more than most, and I've had no problems with ANY foods. I can eat a whole Popsicle without thinking about it! I can eat a small dinner no problem. Don't worry, you're not " the one " ! It does get better, and you'll make it. Best, Amy. _____________________________________________ Amy S. Guest guest
Hi, I'm the one who said I could eat half a juice bar. I probably could eat a whole one sometimes; it seems to depend on the day or the time of day. I haven't lost as much, either, as some others who had surgery the same week (mine was 8/2). I think I have lost about 14-15 pounds in about 15 days. I can't tell exactly because my scales are not very accurate. I also have a hard time feeling what I would think of as a full feeling. It doesn't feel the same as before. I just sort of feel like I should quit eating, but it is not the same full feeling that I remember from before the surgery. I can't really explain it. Everything I have eaten has agreed with me pretty well, too. I have been sticking to fruit and vegetable juices, yogurt, crackers, broth and a little baby food so far. I don't think you should worry because no one loses at the same rate, but everyone loses. A lot depends on how much you weigh to begin with. Usually if you weigh more to begin with, you lose more quickly. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Maybe your scales at home are wrong. I look forward to getting on the scales at my doctor to see what I have really lost . I also know that a loss of 25 pounds in the first month is normal for someone who started out at the weight I did, so I think I am doing all right. Don't worry, I'm sure you are doing fine ! I just want to be in the same category! The first 2-4 weeks, your stomach can hold more than it will later, particularly because you are doing mostly liquids. As for the frozen juice bars, if the person who can only eat half was chewing slow and letting them melt, she could eat the whole thing so she must still be eating fast and chomping off bites. Liquids don't fill up the stomach, they pass on through pretty quickly. Any weight you lose the first 1-2 weeks is nothing but water weight. You didn't have as much water weight as the others. Big deal. Your body does not begin to break down large amounts of fat that soon -- it takes work. You have to be burning 3500 calories more than you need per pound to lose a pound. Even if you were eating ZERO food per day, if you figure that your daily expenditure of energy is around 2500 calories, the MOST you could expect to lose would be about a pound every day and a half. So don't worry about it. Once the fat breakdown process starts, you'll lose weight. Kind regards, (Who is the record slowest loser, really, but I'm still losing inches and weight anyway. Boobs went down 2 inches this week. I could hide state secrets in my bra now and still have room left over. )

That's because your stomach isn't healed yet. By 3 mos., you will feel your stomach as you've never felt it before. You will get *HUNGER PAINS* like you never had before -- it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO FANTASTIC!!! To have a stomach that FEELS HUNGRY and also FEELS FULL. To stop eating because I'm actually *full* and know it is the one thing I never believed would ever happen, but it has. Not to worry. Most of what you are going through now is all temporary and nothing like it will be by about 2.5 mos. > > Sara > MGB 8/2 > > KathiBrandes@... wrote: > > > Debbie (fivebugsonaleaf) had lost 22 pounds as of day 12.
