Guest guest
Is Peptamen something that a child can drink? or is it for feeding tubes only? Sara - Mommy to Zach 17 months and hasn't gained an ounce since April so for those of you who are having problems with weight gain, I would ask about the Peptamen 1.5, it is made to go through feeding tubes, and is 375 cal/can each can is about 8 oz. > > > Katy > Mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 1 w/CF > >
Guest guest
Zach does not have a feeding tube. He has always been a vigourous eater and until he was 10 months old, he steadily gained weight. The first 6 weeks after his diagnosis he gained over 2 pounds, but since then - nothing. He eats everything - hot dogs, french fries, pudding, scrambled eggs, kit kats, etc. I recently started feeding him Boost vanilla pudding and he really likes it. He seems to only want to drink Lactaid whole milk and will refuse regular whole milk. How he knows the difference is beyond me. He takes 6 Ultrase pills with each meal and the doctor says that is all he can have. His stools are still really mushy and yellow. We go to clinic tomorrow. They want to switch him to Pancrecarb, but only after seeing him and weighing him first. I hope the new enzymes work. I can't think of anything more to feed him that is super high fat. I will ask about Peptamen or something like it. Thanks for the info! Sara > The Peptamen, is supposed to be unflavored, but it doesn't look or smell like something that a child would want to drink. It is also very thick, does Zach have a feeding tube? Have the doctors discussed putting one in? The label for the Peptamen says " Ready to use for either oral or tube feedings " . Hope this helps. > > > > > Katy > Mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 1 w/CF > >
Guest guest
I will ask about it tomorrow. Thanks! Sara > Have you tried adding Scandishake to his milk? It has a lot of calories, 560 cal when mixed when mixed with lactose-fee milk. Worth a try!! It tastes like a milkshake, and comes in Strawberry, Chocolate, and vanilla. > > > > > Katy > Mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 1 w/CF > >
