Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Is Farmers cheese from the whole foods the same as dry cured cottage cheese. If not where can I get dry cured cottage cheese from? Is it OK to use Threelac as an anti yeast supplement on the dite? Is Glycerine in butter ok to use? New to the diet, have a very picky eater, any help would be appreciated. We're just starting with legal/illegal list since he's so picky. Guest guest
Sara, there is a type of cheese that is called " Farmer's Cheese " that is not legal.... so you need to be careful. The one that IS okay looks just like the curds of cottage cheese, pressed together without any kind of liquid or cream around them. It does not resemble regular cheese at all. These are the ingredients in Threelac: << Ingredients: Bacillus Coagulans (200 million CFU), Bacillus Subtilis (25 million CFU), Enterococcus Faecalis (25 million CFU), Lemon Juice Powder, Refined Yeast Powder, Fiber. >> I'm sorry but the yeast powder itself would make it illegal on SCD. I have absolutely NO idea whether any of these bacterial strains would be okay. I've never heard of any of them. I know Glycerin is legal as a supplement additive, so I don't think there would be a problem with it. Have never heard of it being an ingredient in butter before. Patti Dry Cured Cottage cheese!!! Guest guest
<<Patii, is that the Friendship Farmer's Cheese that's legal?>> To be perfectly honest, I don't know.... as we don't have that brand around here. I buy Sunshine Dairy dry curd cottage cheese (Portland, Oregon area) at Wild Oats... and avoid the other cheese they carry here that is called " Farmer Cheese " . Hopefully, someone else can answer.
