Guest guest
Well, off we go again! This time, though, it's not Cody who is sick--it's DJ!!! We spent the morning in the ER, now Mark just called from the walk-in clinic and told me that they're putting him in the hospital. This morning he woke up with a " sore back " , but as I talked to him and got him to show me where, I determined it was in his right kidney area. Ended up being blood in his urine, and he had a high fever, but his white blood cell count was normal. They sent him home after 5 hours and one CT scan, saying that it was a kidney stone (again!!--he had his first one when he was 6-1/2!), and he has to pee into a strainer for a while. Well, here at home, he began getting nauseous, I gave him more Tylenol, but his fever didn't go down--just kept going up. He fell asleep for about 2 hours, then woke up with an even higher temp (this is after Tylenol had been given 2 hours previously, and Advil had been 4 hours previously). He got sick and ended up throwing up big time--all over me and him and everything within about 5 feet--just after he had a couple sips of water. His temp was 103.5 at this time, so they said bring him back in when I called the ER. They were really busy and backed up though, so Mark took him to the walk-in. That was really busy, too, for some reason, but at least it was a great doc that saw him! AND, a pediatrician--not an ER doc. This has also caused his asthma to flare up, so he needs help for that too. He is going in to get IV fluids, controlled pain meds and fever control. As soon as they come back to the hospital I will head over there. Gonna go take a shower now as I'm staying over night with him. Another time that I'm thankful the hospital is across the street!!! Talk to you all soon--keep DJ in your thoughts and prayers! Guest guest
Hi , I will be keeping DJ in my thoughts and prayers. Poor kid. I hear kidney stones are sooooo painfull. Especially as they have to pass them through the urinary tract way. Just a thought for you. I was a teacher aide for 3yrs for medical needs children. There was a young lady (these were teens) who also had the same problem. Her doctors actually took a laser and broke up the stones in her kidneys. This made it easier for them to pass. She urinated in a port-a-potty like device. We would check it daily to see if anything came out. What we saw was more like sand in the urine. It was much easier for her then. Just a thought I had when I read your post. This poor girl used to scream and cry from the pain till the laser procedure was done. I hope all gets better with DJ and the doctors keep him out of pain. , mom to Rhonda 14wcf
