I just received my SCD probio so started it, I did 1/2 capsule. She

seemed a bit extra cranky after getting it (wanting to be alone in her

room) and then this evening her bm (which had been formed for awhile

now since SCD) was mushy. However, it was still a normal color

(yeah!). Would this be typical of introducing SCD probio? Should I

continue with 1/2 capsule everyday or do less or do more, etc?? (She

also had a sneak of grapefruit off her brother's plate last night, it

was raw and she has only been getting cooked pear/apple and some

banana). I did see undigested bits of grapefruit in the diaper. Just

wondering about the probio? Since starting SCD her system seems extra

sensitive to supps (when I did 1/4 capsule Candex last week she had a

major attack (temper tantrums, rage) and really bad die-off/diarrhea.

Thanks so much everyone!

Regarding this post, is Candex a legal probiotic? Just wondering as Candida

seems to be my son's type of yeast. I'm wondering how he'll do with just the

Lactobacillis Acidophilus from Kirkman's.

We are considering the Saccromyces B. also, but there are places where it says

it is illegal.

I'm supposing the yogurt will be the best thing, once we can start that.

The last time I looked Probio is not SCD legal.

It is a multi-strain probiotic.

I'll have to check the Kirkman's website to see if it is being marked

as okay for SCD so that it can be corrected if it is.

They sell a legal Acidophilus.

OH I was just using shorthand " Probio " for probiotic, I have the

SCDophilus or whatever from the GIprohealth. I know for sure what I

have is SCD legal. Thanks though!

Candex is a yeast killing enzyme. So it isn't considered a

probiotic.

<<Regarding this post, is Candex a legal probiotic?>>

Candex isn't on the list on pecanbread.com, but it doesn't look like it has any

illegal ingredients. I just read on Brainchild's website that it's critical that

it be given on an empty stomach, one hour away from any food. And, yes... as

someone else said, it's an enzyme product, not a probiotic.

<<We are considering the Saccromyces B. also, but there are places where it says

it is illegal.>>

I know Elaine's website still has some spots where it's listed as illegal, but

we did confirm a few weeks ago that she did in fact declare it to be legal. The

website just hasn't been updated.

This could be die off. If her stools worsen or don't improve you

could try

1. giving epsom salt baths or

2. reduce the daily dose further (or even stop a few days to give her

bowels a break)

Hi ,

> Regarding this post, is Candex a legal probiotic?

Candex is a legal yeast enzyme. Candizyme (sold in Canada) and

Candidase are some other brands. Some also find No Fenol helps

fight yeast.

S. boulardii is a good, legal, helpful yeast. If you decide to take

a yeast enzyme or antiyeast medication (flagyl, diflucan, nystatin

etc.) make sure that you take S. boulardii at least a few hours

apart from it or you'll kill all the good yeast.

Yogurt should also help but remember to start each of these slowly

so you don't overwhelm with die off.
