Guest guest
I dont have any suggestions, as my band already came colored. I just wanted to let you know that I am also from San Diego. My son has been in his Starband for almost 4 weeks. Nice to see a fellow San Diegan! As for the startes, people just don't know why he is wearing the helmet and that is why they stare...or they think it is because he "bangs his head". I have gotten that answer 3 times now! I am tempted to go public (call the local news) with the whole thing, like the one lady on these boards did a few weeks ago. I still have not run into another kid in a helmet in San Diego! Take Care! allergic to the paint Has anyone had trouble with their baby being allergic to the paint on the helmnet when they decorate it even if it is non toxic paint? I am nervous to paint it since my son has sensitive skin. I know once you paint the helmet it is permanent... The white helmet looks awful though so something has to be done!. I have been getting stares and I know people are wondering what is wrong with him or they try to avoid you altogether. Any help would be appreciated: ) (San Diego, Zachary DOC band since June 6)
Guest guest
Hi , I like your idea of calling the news. Not only will people know why our kids are wearing helmets but it will help new moms be aware of what to look for in their new babies & hopefully fix their little heads earlier than later. I had no idea about plagio before Dylan was diagnosed. Everytime a friend has a baby I am telling them to rotate their heads when they sleep, they too have no idea why? > > I dont have any suggestions, as my band already came colored. Guest guest
I saw Ellie from Scope last Friday. She said that somone that knew us was in for a helmet, I assume that someone was you and Dylan. I could not remember Dylan's name when I was on the spot. What color or pattern did you go with? When does he get the helmet? It would be funny if we ran into each other at Scope. I usually go on fridays, every 2 weeks. Next fri is our next appt. Mabye we could meet sometime. Then Bryce will know another kid in a helmet. Honestly, it does not even phase him! He is doing great! Let me know if you have any questions along the way. Ellie will give you her cell phone #, but we are here if you need any questions. allergic to the paint> > > Has anyone had trouble with their baby being allergic to the paint on > the helmnet when they decorate it even if it is non toxic paint? Guest guest
Hi! i'm the mom that went on our local news. I'm so glad we did because the news station we went with is the biggest and most watched and instead of people avoiding us, they come up to us and say Did'nt I see yall on the news. And they ask how Baby eric is doing and I love the positive attention we get. I also love that we educated a lot of mommies and daddys out there. Oh and about the blank white band I would suggest to put stickers on it. I totally recommend if you can get your local news to do a segment on plagio it would do no harm but it does so much good! krueger Mata 5months (tort. and Plagio, 2 1/2 weeks in hanger band) Jenasis Starr Mata 2 years (A great older sister) > > > > I dont have any suggestions, as my band already came colored. Guest guest
I was glad we got Ellie after you said you had such a good experience with her. We loved her, she made me feel at ease and was able to answer all my questions. Dylan gets his helemt tomorrow afternoon. I am crossing my fingers that it will go well. We actually have our first appt. next Friday at 2:45. My appointments will probably be on Fridays too since I only work half days. We ended up going with the light blue also, I wanted dark blue but she said the royal blue looked purple a lot of the time. I am going to get San Diego Padres stickers this weekend and decorate it. allergic to the paint> > > Has anyone had trouble with their baby being allergic to the paint on > the helmnet when they decorate it even if it is non toxic paint? Guest guest
I am glad that you liked Ellie! She is great! Yeah, the blue looks like purple I guess. I can't belive Dylan is getting his helmet tomorrow. How exciting!!! I can say that now because I am over the whole "helmet thing" and "I am making the right decision thing". When people would ask me if i was excited about him getting his helmet, I would say, "not really". I was just being honest from my own guilt ridden issues. Anyways, I have to tell you that I see tremendous progress already. In fact Bryce had his 6 month DA today and the Dr said (not my regular ped)..."oh my God, that is not bad at all". I was like WhoooooooooooHoooooooooo! So its not just in my head that his head looks so much better already. I just had to share. Mabye I can make a afternoon apt for one of these Friays, so we can meet. allergic to the paint> > > Has anyone had trouble with their baby being allergic to the paint on > the helmnet when they decorate it even if it is non toxic paint? Guest guest
I am so happy that Bryce has had good results. Most of the posts on here all say they see results so quickly and I am hopeful we have the same experience. I am excited for Dylan to get his helmet today but I am really excited just to get it on & off as quickly as possible. I am looking forward to decorating it though. I will let you know when our next Friday appt is. We would love to meet you & Bryce :-) allergic to the paint> > > Has anyone had trouble with their baby being allergic to the paint on > the helmnet when they decorate it even if it is non toxic paint?
