Page 70, edition 10 of BTVC, top of the page suggests a regression someimes

occurs

around the three month mark. However, it would be best for to be seen

by a

doctor.

Ok thanks Carol! I called our doctor to talk to him about it all. I

left a message at his home. He is a great country doctor and

neighbourhood friend! He is a DAN doctor too. Will let you know

how it all turns out. Thanks! Pamela

Hello!

Thanls all for the posts to try to help! could not get

enought air Tuesday morning between coughs and an ambulance needed

to be called. We are back from a few days at the hospital finally!!

I am very much questioning things right now. has never

been this ill! I am wondering if it was the few tablespoons of

yoguart I gave him. He has pneumonia. 90% of all pneumonia's are

viral. As his fever disappeared while a the hospital I managed to

aviod most pills. He did get 4 doses of a mask filled with

ventilin. And one doese of some steriod to help him breath. BUT

s sats were far too low and he needed to ge the lungs open

so he could breath! Is there anything I need to do to rid him of

this terrible stuff that he got?

Keeping myself on this diet during the hospital was very hard! So I

ate what I could and did mamage to get 's organic scd food

brought to me from home. Well we are on the mend now and happy to be

home!

Thanks!

That's funny - about 6 weeks into the diet when I started, I also got

pneumonia. But I had had it before, knew what it was, and was on

antibiotics within 24 hours, and getting better quickly. Pneumonia

takes a lot out of you.

The ventilin will not affect the diet at all. It is non-steriodal,

and really helps to open the lungs to breathe. A common name is

albuterol. Do not be afraid to give it to him, but it can wind him

up. Winds me up something awful, but I can breathe. If he came home

with a breathing machine, this is most likely the medicine for it.

The inhaled steroids are not as bad as the pills for SCD, but if he

needs to pills, it's OK to use meds that are needed. I took every

one of those antibiotic pills, even knowing what havoc they caused,

because I needed them to kill those nasties.

Rest is what he needs to fight off the nasties. He can probably

judge what he is capable of doing physically. He may get tired very

suddenly - just let him rest. You could probably do with some rest,

too. Hospitals are very stressful, especially on mothers staying at

the hospital with their child. Been there, done that. Wasn't

restful in the least.

The yogurt probably did not contribute to the pneumonia, but if

you're more comfortable not giving it for a while, that's fine. My

favorite advise is " You're his mother. You know him best. Trust

your instincts - they're usually right. "

Now, a few deep breaths, whatever you do to relax, a good night's

sleep, and tomorrow's a new day.
