Guest guest
First off, let me ask you about what you're giving your baby for the eczema. My 1yr. old battled with it on his feet for months now. The only way I can get rid of it is with a prescription topical cream, but I have tried anything else except lots of lotion. Now, on to the couple of questions that I can answer for you. I can't advise you on how bad it would be to use up the Brain Child supplements that you have since we've only been scd for about 3 1/2 months now. What I would say is this. Call them, and explain the situation. Many places will allow you to return the supplements if you're not satisfied. You'd have to pay for the shipping to return them, but that probably wouldn't be so bad. Personally, we use Nordic Naturals for our EFA, and I know that a fair number of others do as well. Also, the Kirkman probiotic that you're using right now isn't legal. Check the legal list again. I know that they do have a legal one. I just don't remember it right now. Finally, you can use apple cide, but not apple juice. With fall coming up, that's probably going to be fairly easy to get from somewhere near you. Don't forget that you can stock up on that in your freezer. Also, we use Welch's 100% white and purple grape juices. That's what I mix my son's supplements into every day...even the fish oil...and he can't even tell. I hope that this helps. I can tell you that there are several people on this list who have a wealth of knowledge. Meleah scd 05/06 iel 3yrs., asd Ethan 5yrs., Mark 1yr. Guest guest
Michele, Take a breath! Not all the Brainchild formulas are illegal. Is what you have any of these?: << Spectrum Support Ultra-Sensitive Formula NightCal (flavored and unflavored) LiquiZinc (flavored and unflavored) >> If so, they are listed on the pecanbread.com website as LEGAL. As for the other supplements you want to use, just check that " Supplements " section on the website... they list all kinds of legal and illegal supplement additives, so you can read the labels and check them yourself to determine illegal starches and fillers. I think milk thistle is fine, as long as there's nothing added. Check the additives list. Transfer factor.... I honestly don't know. Have not used it. I don't know about the CLO you're using. It would depend on if there was any other additive... and what exactly they use for the mint flavoring. Some of the flavored CLOs are okay, so it might be fine. There are many legal supplements listed there... so hopefully you can find some that will be good substitutes for what you're using now. Legal Kirkman products I see there include CLOs, EFAs, and various other multiples and minerals, etc, etc. The " juice mix " you're using now is definitely not okay. You can open capsules or grind up tablets and mix them into homemade applesauce or pearsauce... or any of the legal juices. I have to do that with any medication or supplement my daughter takes. Some of the legal Kirkman multiples come in very small capsules...so it's a very small amount to have to mix in, and they don't have an overly strong taste. You typed: <<My son drinks almond milk, but unfortunately it's the boxed kind (Pacific). I'm not really sure I'm up to making almond milk; he drinks so little too. Sometimes he uses it in cereal.>> There is no legal commercial nut milk. Sorry. Making your own is really, REALLY easy.... especially if he uses very little of it. <<I noticed Sacc B is not okay, & the baby is getting that too. It seems to have helped him & I'm concerned he'll have issues if I take it away. >> s.boulardii IS legal now.... although some areas on the BTVC website state otherwise, it just hasn't been updated yet. We've confirmed that Elaine said it's fine to use. <<Another topic: He's not really eating much yet & is such a sensitive allergy kiddo. Has anyone implemented SCD on a baby just starting solids? >> If you are nursing, you may need to be on SCD also. Patti Supplements etc I've been noticing the illegal & legal supplement list. I haven't gone through everything yet, but I noticed Brainchild is illegal. We use the II unflavored minerals & vitamins & have quite a bit stored right now that was very expensive. Is it that bad to use & what is wrong with it? It will take us a while to finish it & it was so $$ I can't just not use it. I didn't notice the Kirkman's milk thistle on either list, is it allowed? What about Transfer Factor? This has been so beneficial to all of us, especially the baby, that I can't imagine not using it. The baby was getting horribly ill & this improved his health markedly. Also, we use a mint flavored CLO from Green Pastures (there are other flavors). Is this going to be allowed? My autistic son does not get it but 3 of us do; it made an incredible healing difference in the baby's eczema. My 2nd son gets Coremega which I noticed is illegal. His Spectrum Complete is illegal too, as is my daughters Kirkman's chewables. What EFAs do you all use? What multi's do you all use? It's been *very* difficult finding a multi for my 2nd & 3rd child (I don't use Brainchild for them; too $$). Also, my daughter is almost impossible to get vits into, but if she doesn't get them she is weaker & gets sick easier ( & passes it along). She does not like nut milks. I just started mixing her vits in a little bit of natural juice mix & she's drinking it right down. If I have to stop that I don't know how to get them into her. I noticed apple juice is not legal, but some other juices are. It's kind of a tropical juice mix by Ceres that I've been using. Most juices have some apple juice in them; it's the last ingredient along with pear juice in this one. Is this acceptable or not for the little she gets everyday? My son drinks almond milk, but unfortunately it's the boxed kind (Pacific). I'm not really sure I'm up to making almond milk; he drinks so little too. Sometimes he uses it in cereal. The baby ( & everyone but me) is getting ProBio Gold. I assume the inulin free is okay? I noticed Sacc B is not okay, & the baby is getting that too. It seems to have helped him & I'm concerned he'll have issues if I take it away. Another topic: He's not really eating much yet & is such a sensitive allergy kiddo. Has anyone implemented SCD on a baby just starting solids? Sorry for the multitude of questions; I'm trying not to be overwhelming or too overwhelmed! I just want to know what's coming. Perhaps I can do this in stages, but as we run out of certain vits, I can start replacing them if I have good alternatives. Thanks, Michele

Making your own is really, REALLY easy.... especially if he uses very little of it. I noticed that; I'm going to have to try that. I tried making nut milk years & years ago & it was horrid. But maybe I can do better now with " tech " support LOL. > > <<I noticed Sacc B is not okay, & the baby is getting that too. I have no grains or dairy in my diet as of now. Lots of raw fruits though. He is starting to eat more solids (he is 1) & I have to figure out how to feed him. I'd like to just do SCD from the start with him. Thanks! Michele > Supplements etc > > > I've been noticing the illegal & legal supplement list. Is the Spectrum Support a multi of vits & minerals?>> I honestly don't know.... check Brainchild's website. www.brainchildnutritionals.com . I'm wondering... I know you said you bought them through your local doctor, and can't return them... but I'm just wondering if you could contact Brainchild directly and possibly swap any sealed bottles, as long as the date is not up and you paid the shipping?
