no trouble at all. My surgery was 6-2-00 and I have lost 63 pounds.

Tell her to try again. I don't think she was given accurate

information. Good luck to your friend!! (and You!!)

According to Barbara, BCBS has just changed their criteria for

approval of WLS and are now requiring verification from the surgeon

(Dr. R) that he has seen us and it is " safe " for us to have the

surgery. The good doc is composing a letter that we can send to them

verifying that the clinic visit is a " physical " .

I guess BCBS got scared since so many were approved for surgery and

desided to make things harder! Those of you who were approved earlier

are the lucky ones!

I am still pre-op and I have BCBS of NC. Last week I was denied- their

reason- " lack of clinical information " . If I understand all the insurance

mumbo jumbo what that means (I think) is that they want the doctor

performing the surgery (Dr. R in our case) to do a physical. Barbara at Dr.

R's office said they are working on a letter explaining to BCBS that the

clinic visit should be sufficient and it sort of is a physical, minus the

labs.

That was last week. I am going to try to call today and see if she has

heard anything. Is anyone else going through the same situation? Gloria

:0) Dean and I seem to be in the same boat. If anyone has any suggestions

please let us know.

I had to take a break for a few days. This whole process is exciting yet

over whelming at times. I hope to hear good news from BCBS and I hope your

friend does as well.

Dana, you go through many phyisical and mental exams and those files are sent

to your insurance co. and then they decide whether or not you are able to get

the surgery. Hang in there, its worth it. It took me ten month from start to

finish. Chuck from Chicago
