Guest guest
I have read some pretty nasty stuff on canola, things like it smothering mitochondria and stuff, and even our Doc recommended NOT using it. We always use expeller pressed olive, sunflower, coconut...and ANOTHER KIND which I have a question about???? is Grapeseed Oil...[not to be confused with Rapeseed]...Grapeseed is excellent for vit E content, has a very high smoke point, and is light on taste for those who don't want the stronger taste of olive....BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS SCD LEGAL?? --------- Re: oils Canola oil is only a name branded to an oil made from rapeseed. Rapeseed is notorious for going rancid and is not very stable. Canola just means *Canada Oil* check this link. I believe soy oils are legal but I am not sure they are that healthy. Someone else can chime in on that one http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/canola_oil.htm Charlene UC 8 years SCD 5 1/2 years Can anyone tell me why canola oil is not to be used on this diet? Are soy oils legal? Thanks, Debbie daughter crohn's, scd 1 month ---------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
I see no reason why it wouldn't be. We started using it with SCD 3 years ago and found that, in the winter, when we stopped (even though replacing it with other oils) my children would get skin issues. We did a start/stop process 3 times that first winter and it happened every time. Now it is an integral part of our diet as it's quite apparent that our bodies do best with grapeseed oil.
