Guest guest
I'm sure this topic has been around before, but maybe a long time ago before people like me knew about places like CFParents. So at the risk of repeating what the old-timers already know, I would like to share 's Scandishake recipe. The Scandishake with just milk is inedible to him. But mix it with the ice cream flavor of the month (usually some wild type, like fudge nut brownie or Breyer's Spongebob Squarecake - chocolate, fudge, caramel, etc), a banana, salt, milk, ice, and a real strong blender. Be careful, it's so filling it can take the place of a meal, which it is not supposed to do. This is used as a 'just home from school' snack or bedtime snack. Guest guest
Hi Dan, In high school, 's favorite night time weight-puttin'-on snack was our homemade version of a non-alcoholic pina colada smoothie (, this is the recipe I told you about when you called last week). I didn't have brothers growing up, only sisters, so I'd only heard about the legend of the male teen appetite. proved that legend true! I'd make this shake and he'd drink the entire thing. He normally only needs one enzyme with meals, but this shake is so filling and has so much fat that he'd take two enzymes and drink a about 32 oz. of the shake, then about 30 minutes later take another enzyme and finish off whatever was left in the blender. 8 1/2 oz. Coco canned cream of coconut 3/4 c. pineapple chunks in juice (canned or fresh) 1 packet Vanilla Instant Breakfast 1/2 c. whole milk 1 1/2 c. ice cubes 1/2 c. pressured whip cream for garnish 1 whole maraschino cherry for garnish Shake cream of coconut before opening can; stir contents into blender. Add pineapple, Instant Breakfast, milk and ice. Blend on high until thick, smooth and fine-looking. If you want it thicker, add more ice and blend well. Garnish with whipped cream and cherry. If you drink this whole concoction yourself, then you get: 1468.5 calories, 44.9 g fat, 10.8 g. protein, 270.2 g. carbs, 43 mg. cholesterol, 392 mg sodium. (Dietary exchanges: 1 nonfat milk, 2 fruit, 10 fat, 14 other carbs.) You could also make this with Scandishakes, I guess. didn't like the taste of those and the ingredients aren't very good for you. So I always bought Carnation Instant Breakfast, which is also higher in calcium, vit. a and vit e than Scandishakes (unless they've changed the Scandishake ingredients since 1998). Sometimes I'd add mangoes too if I had some on hand. I was always trying to sneak extra fruits and veggies into my kids. Canned cream of coconut is really high in fat and calories; you can add it to other canned shakes, but it's pretty sweet. Canned coconut milk is another good source of calories and a lot better for you than cream of coconut.
