Guest guest
Dear Chrissy, Yes, there was a group which was sponsered by MUSC named " Pancreatitis Partners, " which met physically, in person on the hospital grounds. It's been a long time, and I'm a little vague on the dates, but I believe we first met in the Spring of 1997 at the Wellness Center in a very nice lounge. I believe the last meeting was around the spring of 2001. I'm sorry that the group disbanded, as I always learned a lot and made several good pancreatitis friends who I still hear from. Penelope would line up Drs., nurses, and patients to come and have a lecture and questions. For example, Dr. made time in his demanding schedule to walk over there and talk to us about surgical interventions for Chronic Panc. Then the last hour or so he would answer questions. It's not often that you get that much of a health care professional's undivided attention, so it was good. Kind of like a very scaled version of the great symposiums Karyn and Tull put together. We met for about 2-3 hours monthly. Later when funding became more of a problem we moved to Rutledge Tower and started meeting once every 3-4 months as best as I can recall. Diane Hollister, from this group, came all the way to ton from Tennessee to see her doctor at MUSC. I'll tell you some more later, just couldn't sleep and decided to check mail,, now back to try and rest. Thanks!
