Guest guest
Got a question for you all. I have been having some difficulties swallowing and feels as it is getting stuck or just not going down right things and kinder feel like my throat is swollen near my Larynx area. What I need to ask you all, what is the possibilities that something is wrong with the test that I have had done. Yes I know that you all are not medical DRS but just looking for some input on this and I know I have heard things before but just having a rough time excepting things and being that something is going on with my throat in all. I have had a barium swallow about a year and a half ago and everything was ok, little acid reflex, they said but besides that everything normal. I have had Chest X-rays about 2 in the past year. I also have had 2 abdomen CT's and a Abdomen ultrasound in the past 6 - 8 months.. I have also had a scope from the ears, nose, throat DR go down my throat a couple of time in the past 2 years and everything was normal then. I also just had a Endoscopy about 3 -5 months ago and they also did a biopsy and everything was normal. So, I have had allot done and I still seem to have a problem, is this anything I should be concern about or could this just be nerves going on. That is what others say and some DR's but I don't always believe what Dr's have to say. Well anyways, I thought I would email you all and see what you had to say about this in all. Thanks and best wishes all, ---Ralph

Guest guest
Ralph, Have your physician refer you to a speach therapist and they can evaluate your swallowing difficulties. I work on a physical rehab unit at a hospital and thats what the rehab docs order for people with this problem. They should be able to tell you whats up and treat it if necessary. Guest guest
Ralph, I read your post below and a few thoughts came to my mind. First, there is a possibility that you may want to ask your doctor if you are having esophageal spasm. Some people with acid reflux are prone to the esphogeal spasms. They can be downright irritating. Sometimes feel like your throat or stomach is tightening. Some home remedies are cold water, or a bite of ice cream.. As a rule of thumb cold drinks are NOT good for digestion. But you can always try to cold ice water to see if it helps.. The other thought is that your esphogus ( gee, I am a nurse and still can't spell that word right twice in a row !!), may need stretched. One of my co workers has to have his esphogus stretch thru a scope once a year. Due to aging, reflux and spasm, he can feel it tightening and when he gets to the point that he can't eat or swallow he goes in for his stretch ! Just a few thinggs to ask your doctor. Take Care, Lily from OHIO Ralph here) Got a question for you all. I have been having some difficulties swallowing and feels as it is getting stuck or just not going down right things and kinder feel like my throat is swollen near my Larynx area.
