Guest guest
Margie, I am a type two diabetic on oral meds. Tell me more about diabetic fog? I have only been diagnosed for the past 5 years, after my son was born. I have been thinking the way I feel and think is because of stress related to sons medical problems. Tell me more please. Guest guest
Hi Marjory, I weaned myself off caffeine years ago.I have it occasionally, but I am no longer addicted.I hated waking up feeling like I've 'gotta have IT'.I HIGHLY recommend that you spend the next 3 weeks weaning yourself gradually and not cold turkey. You will have some royal headaches if you don't,those blood vessels in your brain chanting 'CAFFEINE,CAFFEINE....'I am not diabetic and cannot offer anything there,Good Luck. Guest guest
Hi Marjory- I am really hoping for an August 30th date. Two ladies posted about getting that date yesterday, but unfortunately I can't remember who off hand. I am sure they will write to you. I am very excited for you. I also have Type II Diabetes and I am on 2 meds, no insulin, although I probably should have been because I have never been able to get my glucose in normal range for about 10 years now. I also have neuropathy in my feet pretty severely. I am very excited about having surgery change my Diabetes. The all juice at first was a wierd thought for me as well. I always feel guilty having any juice at all; however, I have read that large meals are harder on a Diabetic than sugar per say. And juice is fructose which should break down a little slower. I have everything in to the clinic. My online forms for over a week and hopefully my packet arrived yesterday. So I am just waiting on my insurance letter (no sign of it yet). And for Dr. R. to ok my packet. Hang in there. Time will go fast. Hoping to be your littermate - Laurie > Hi All, I have my airline tickets and my rental car now I just need a > hotel. Guest guest
Dear Laurie, I hope you get a aug 30th date. Are you calling your insurance, it doesn't hurt to. I also have had diabetes for 10 years, the insulin really didn't help me, only helped me gain 50 pounds. I don't have neuropathy that I know of, but I do have a heel spur that makes it hard to walk much. Where are you from? I did learn one thing talking to Barbara about my date, that diabetics on insulin get the surgery in the morning. I have seen people post that they don't know how the times are schelduled so this explains one reason he put's some ahead of others. I am sure he has his good reasons. We will be waiting on a good word from the insurance for you. Warmest Regards Marjory > > Hi All, I have my airline tickets and my rental car now I just need > a > > hotel. Guest guest
Debbie, Thanks for the correction. I might just wait to hear how you like the hawthorn suites before I call or do you think there will be a problem getting a room if I wait a while. I think my surgery is right before Labor Day. I can't really imagine that there are a lot of vacationers flocking to Durham for Labor Day. In my area there won't be a hotel room or campsite left. All are hearts will be with your whole family this week. After all your effort I know everything will go perfect for you and Chris. Guest guest
Dear Kathie, I am not sure when you start experiencing the fog but it is related to out of control blood sugars or low blood sugars from the meds. It is just that you can't think as clearly as you used to. I am 53 and menopausal so that also plays a part, but the diabetes is certainly involved. You are slower to get the words out and slower in making decisions. I am a very verbal person; I can talk to anybody about anything, that's why I would have loved giving an oral report to Dr. Rutledge instead of writing an 8-page letter. I find now that I can't communicate as clearly, I sometimes get mixed up and say things that aren't understandable to people who understood me perfectly in the past. It just feels like your brain is in a bit of a fog. People have said that after the surgery when your blood sugars are normalized that the fog clears. I am not a doctor but I understand that because we have cells that have such poor receptors for insulin that they are deprived of glucose and are starved for fuel, it affects all of our body even the brain. I hope this helps you understand what a diabetic fog is. If anybody else can help me out just jump right in. Regards Marjory > Margie, I am a type two diabetic on oral meds. Guest guest
Hi Memory, Congatulations!!!!You are also my littermate!! I can't wait either. I dreamed last night I got to the Dr. office and something in the office started to make me cough and some guy came over and said the Dr won't do your surgery if your coughing. When I woke up I thought oh no I can't get sick, so now I understand what others have been saying about not wanting anything to happen before surgery. Where are you staying and what time do you go to clinic. Anybody else for the 30th. Excited and still doing the happy dance. Guest guest
Memory I will be staying at the Hawthorn suites. How do you know you have a fatty liver? I am 53 and am 5'2 " tall and weigh 280. My husband will be with me, let me know if we can get together Tuesday after clinic for a light supper. We don't arrive in Durham from Ca. until 8pm on monday. I'm sorry about your fatty liver, I bet that the Dr. doesn't decides what he will do about the bypass until he sees it for himself.Be assured he will do what is the best thing for you health and happiness. My prayers are with you. Marjory Sumlin > I'm Aug 30th! I can't wait! > > Memory > BMI 53 > > > > > Hi All, I have my airline tickets and my rental car now I just need > a > > hotel.
