Guest guest
GOOD LUCK with the softball. I hope this wonderful trend will continue. It sounds like all the right things at the right time. Great job........Yes, that is a really nice clinic at UAB.... have a wonderful weekend!! LOVE & HUGS, grandmomBEV weight gain help Hi all. I noticed an email about weight gain troubles and it reminded me that I haven't mentioned on here how gained 10 pounds last month. She has undergone some major changes lately. First of all, we changed CF Clinics. We now go to UAB at Birmingham. On our first visit (supposedly a checkup, get to know you kind of visit) they put her in the hospital since PFT's were very low. They asked if we minded if they made a few changes to see how it would affect her. SURE!! That is what we were there for. She had been kind of at a stand still with her weight for about a year and her PFT's were not as good as before. I was HOPING something could be done. It could, in this case. They changed her enzymes from Pancrecarb back to Creon. They gave her Prevacid to get rid of the stomach acid so the enzymes didn't break down too early. I really think the combination of the two of these changes are what caused her to gain at least half of the weight she gained during that 2 weeks stay. She weighed 56 pounds when she was admitted. She left the hospital weighing 64 pounds two weeks later. has always had trouble gaining weight. She has a Mickey button and gets her Nutren 2.0 (supposedly 3,600 calories) everynight. It just wasn't putting the weight on. She has continued to gain weight since coming home from the hospital. We went back for a check up a week ago and she has gained 4 more pounds. She has gained over 10 pounds in 5 weeks. That is so NOT normal for her. They also started her on zithromax (1 tablet 3 days a week) and has not had any problems with that either. I don't know if that has anything to do with the weight gain or not, but I am sure the Prevacid has. The different enzymes probably have too. Her stool is actually normal for the first time in her life. I didn't know it was possible. Well, I'll quit rambling. Just wanted to pass on some hopefully helpful information. Take care everyone. We are off to play softball!!!! Wish us luck. Guest guest
Thank you VERY MUCH!!!!! We just got home from the games today. We finished one game that was rained out last night and played two more. Not bad for a CFer, huh!!!! She did great. She pitched, played short stop and second. We have to go back in the morning for one more game. We are playing 2 hours away but are driving rather than staying. It is so much fun (summer ball, that is) and we get to spend a lot of mother daughter time together since my son also is on an all star team but, of course, they are playing at the other end of the state. His dad is going with him to his games and I go with . Thank you again. Yes, I also hope this trend continues. We are thinking we might go back in the hospital in August to get one more tune up in before school starts good. She will miss the first few weeks of school but I think that is better than trying to wait it out like we did before. We waited until we had a break in activities before scheduling a visit and ended up staying for longer than usual. Softball will be over July 31, and we have a clinic appt. August 6. School starts August 6, but Dr. told us to plan on staying to get real good before winter hits. Oh well, at least we can still get good. Thank heavens for that. Anyway, thanks again. I will keep yall posted. Have a great day!!!!!!!! Guest guest
YOUR so welcome!! Oh, I am jealous, I loved those softball games. My daughters all played & got to state ranking level with their school team. It is soooooo exciting ~~~~~ I have 2 games today for one grandson too, I go to as many of all of theirs that I can. Today is crazy though . I go to a basket ball game at 12:00 ~~~~~ take his mom to SAMS for grocery shopping . Go back pick him up..take him & groceries home . eat dinner , then go to later game at 8pm. This is how most (Saturdays)weekends go with some games- Whatever the season. Jake plays BB all year in the Magic Jr. traveling league here. In winter he also plays football for his school . So does another Tommy (TJ), plays football for his school too. It is great!!! I can tell you love it also. They all email me their schedules(even those out of town. Sometimes I can get to those .YEAH. teams!!! Yes, I used to coach cheering letters -many years ago ............ Oh, the ones not on teams, have other events . Chorus -dance recitals,, & those at college have me coming to their schools big games too:) You keep that up , THEN ,- when your a grandmom, like me with 10-----you can go to all them -------------have a wonderful time & good luck in the games too!!
