Guest guest
Hello Tom, You seem to be heading in the right direction by finding a specialist who is looking further into your problems and trying to come up with a definitive diagnosis. Once that's done, he should be able to suggest appropriate treatment, and, or, surgery to help allieviate some of your discomfort. We have quite a few members here who have pancreas divisum and who have found that this condition was the cause of their pancreatitis. Hopefully one or more of them will speak up and tell you what they know about it. There are a few of us, too, that have diabetes. I'm a type 1, and was diagnosed 10 months ago. I also have pancreas burn-out and a chronic condition with pseudocysts. Fortunately, I haven't had any difficulty with gastroparesis, and hope that I never do! That only complicates what already seems like too many problems to deal with. I'm scheduled to discuss the pump for my diabetes with my Endo at my appointment this month. How long have you had yours, and has it made any significant improvements in your diabetes management? My doctor thinks that I would be a good candidate for pump usage. I'm still trying to find others that use one and information on the best models to use. How soon will you be seeing the specialist in Conn. again? Does your other doctor know that you've gotten another opinion, and which one would be treating you in the future? Let us know if you have any other questions, or if there's anything we can do to help you. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. PAI, Intl. Guest guest
Hi Heidi and everyone, I will hopefully find out what the cause of my pancreatitis symptoms are tomorrow as I will be discussing the results of MRCP with my GI specialist in the morning. I hope it is somehow simple results and not some terrible news. I am already well aware but only recently that I have a cyst on my right kidney and I am hoping that my pancreas does not share this in any manner. For the last couple of days I have been experiencing slight pain in the right side of my abdomen. Its the kind of annoying pain, similar to that feeling of sticking a finger in one spot until it hurts and never letting go. I have noticed this pressure type pain most recently and it just keeps going and going....something else to discuss with the GI. AS for the diabetes, I have been type 1 for 19 years and have used the pump for the last 6. I am using the minimed 508 pump and it has been wonderful, especially with both gastro-paresis and pancreatitis. The pain or nausea or both caused by either problem above often causes my sugars to rise and the pump allows the absolute freedom of giving insulin all the time to make the necessary adjustments. I am curious if anyone else has rises in blood sugar from pain? I also have a question for the group which is probably simple to answer: " Do any of you take pain medication when you experience slight attacks and what have you been told to take or prescribed? " When I was released from the hospital I was not given any specifics on this question above because I was told it might mask symptoms that would indicate the necessity of going to the ER. Were you folks told the same? Well hopefully good news or clear answers tomorrow. I am always open for a discussion of diabetes and insulin, insulin pumps etc, so dont hesitate to ask.-tom
