Guest guest
Hello Chrissie, I hope you enjoy tomorrow; I think you said you had a day off before going back on Tuesday? I know what you mean about knowledge, Chrissie. I've had this for 52 years (!!!) and have gone through many different stages in the disease. 1986 - 88 and the last couple of years, up to October when I started to feel better, were by far the worst times. (In childhood the pains were horrendous and lasted a week at a time but I only got a couple of attacks a year and seemed perfectly fine in between.) But even over the those very bad times, not knowing what it was made it easier to bear. Now, knowing the risks I run with HP, even a small degree of pain makes me feel terrible. When I didn't know or, later, thought it was coeliac disease and IBS I felt less depressed even when the pain was worse than it has been just recently. I can't say anything about your condition, obviously Chrissie, but I do know that there are different stages with this illness and I hope you will run into a better one very soon. You probably need some pain-free time to catch your breath and get that hope back. It is SO FRUSTRATING not to be able to avoid the pain by following the rules. I understand that. I would eat or avoid anything if I could be sure it would keep that pain at bay! I think I've already told you how supportive of me Sue was when she was in Liverpool in hospital before her second operation? And, of course, for months before that when we corresponded by e-mail. Yes, she is pretty inspirational and very patient and kind! I owe her an immense debt whatever my final decision is over the TP. Even when in pain herself, she always had time for me. Must be something about you nurses!! We see the same consultant so we might just meet again in Liverpool! I haven't got my appointment yet. I have to phone back tomorrow as his secretary was not there on Friday. Well, as usual, I haven't said anything very useful, but at least I'm thinking of you and willing that pain to stay away! Take care on Tuesday. Fliss
