Guest guest
Hi all, I have to ask about 2 different medicines. MS Contin and Tyco 4. I finally went and " bit the bullet " and saw my new PCP (a FNP actually) today. I fully expected to have to " prove " everything to her and it was just the opposite. She kept asking what she could do for me. Said I needed to tell her what I needed as I know more of my illness than she does. She also suggested that we find me a competent specialist in my area (that will be San Francisco) so that when I need one, I will have one. She said she didn't buy what the last specialist had to say about my CT Scan turning out perfect with no abnormalities within the pancreas so I should go eat, drink and be merry. That I was cured. She understands that you are never cured with CP. YAHOO!!! Someone that understands and believes me!!! Anyway, when I told her that the percocet makes me WAY wired and I have to pair it off with Ativan, zanax, ambien, valium or something else to help with that effect, she suggested MS Contin. Or Tyco 4. Has anyone taken either of these meds and what can you tell me about them. Morphene is the only thing that actually works for the pain while in the hospital on the iv drip. And I haven't taken Tyco 4 in over 14 years, so I don't remember what that is like. If it isn't WAY better than Tyco 3, then it will be of no use to me. I am allergic to vicodin, and percocet is the strongest medicine I have and it really doesn't work if I can't take it because of the side effect. So I see some sort of light at the end of tunnel with these suggestions. She said she will discuss this with the doctor in the morning and let me know if he is willing to perscribe either of these for me. He is sort of a hard ball about meds. I am truely hopeing he will be different now because he was just in a MAJOR motorcycle accident and is in quite abit of pain himself. Last time I asked about something stronger than percocet with out the side effects of making me wired, he told me to " suck up the pain and deal with it " . Looking forward to your answers and keep your fingers crossed for me. Sandy/California
Guest guest
Sandy, I have a doctor in San Francisco to recommend if you want me to. He works at UCSF and San Francisco General Hospital and is the specialist who diagnosed me with chronic pancreatitis. I certainly hope either the MSContin or the Tyco 4 works to help deal with your pain and that your current doctor has learned something about pain from his accident so that he no longer tells you to " suck up the pain " .
