Guest guest
Donna, I'm so happy for you.... finding a new doctor that shows some compassion is so gratifying, and it sounds as though you were really ready for the change after dealing with the last one. I started my first duragesic patch a year ago and was just thrilled with the difference it made in pain control. I'm wearing 75 mgs. now, and still find it to be the best of all the pain meds that I've tried. I've tried everything now except methadone. I tried a brief stint with Oxycontin and oxycodone, was on Percocet 10's for two years, hydrocodone, etc., and none worked as well as the duragesic, for me. I'm still using the durageic 75 mgs., with 30 mgs. morphine for breakthrough. Fortunately with a higher dosage of duragesic, I'm not seeing too much BT. So I hope you have the same success. A lot of people have problems with the patch, namely too much sleepiness, or allergies that are so irritating and cause so much itching that they aren't able to keep using them. I've been lucky to have none of these problems, making it a very suitable choice for me. If you have any problems with it, or any questions, feel free to contact me about it, maybe I can help. What are they giving you for breakthrough? With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. Guest guest
Donna, I certainly understand your delight about two more grandchildren to welcome into the family. My only grandchild, Austin, will be arriving in 9 days to spend his spring break with us. I raised him for eleven years, from birth until last August, so he's even more than a grandchild to me, and I'm so looking forward to his visit. It's been a hard half year without him, and I am so excited. The duragesics don't keep all of the pain away, just a good percentage, and there are days that I don't need BT meds at all. That's probably the optimal type of pain control that one should hope for. So glad that things seems to be working out better for you. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
