Guest guest
Connor got his helmet yesterday. We were told he should wear it for 21 hours a day, with 3 one hour breaks during the day. And no real break in period which surprised me. I've been checking him for red spots and so far so good, they do fade. I think I'm having a harder time with it than Connor is! He hardly seems to notice it and slept his first full night in it like he always does! We were told to clean it daily with a mild antibacterial soap and weekly with alcohol. I'm kinda surprised about being told to use soap and am nervous it could affect his skin..but I guess we'll just try it and see how it goes! It already smells a little too, I thought that would take longer to happen. His helmet does seem a bit loose but they said that is normal and he will grow into it. We go back in 2 weeks for an adjustment unless we have any problems before then but I'm hoping not! I just hope when I go back to work Monday that his grandmother doesn't take it off, it's been hard convincing the family that we are doig the right thing... Guest guest
i was told to use baking soda as a cleaner and to help with the smell and to rinse it out. I was so dumb that I did it that same night. Wrong! My advice to everyone dont do that. I cant get the soda all out and it leaves whhite lines on the baby. Also getting it to wet isnt a good idea if you are really keeping the band on for the 23 hours a day. That 1 hour isnt enough time to dry it. And I normally do the 1 hour off at night before bed with a bath. Justice when he got his helmet it was a bit big and he grew into it before the 2 week adjustment. The adjusted it and he had a little more room. My son didnt mind the helmet either. I did though. i think my hubby and i cried for a week taking it on and off of him. Now he giggles away when you put it on him her recognizes it once he sees it and smiles. (how cute)You are doing the right thing in my book. I thought the same things you did and the time goes by so fast its amazing and to look at his head now is something else.Good Luck with Conner!!!! Justices mommy, 4 months 3 weeks old starband since 1-26-09 I love my lil helmet man!! Guest guest
My son Hayden just got his helmet last Tuesday...we were told to only use alcohol to clean it and to clean it daily. So far we haven't had a problem. I put a little on a washcloth and wipe it down, inside and out. He has to wear it 23 hours a day. We take it off at night for bathtime. > > Connor got his helmet yesterday. We were told he should wear it for 21 > hours a day, with 3 one hour breaks during the day. Guest guest
Hi. My duaghter, Delaney, also got her helmet (DOC Band) this week. It hasn't phased her at all! She also slept through the first night with it! We were told to do a break in period for the first couple of days - checking for red spots every 3 - 4 hours (except for at night), and then 23 hours a day after that. Also, we were told not to use anything but alcohol to clean it. What type of helmet does Connor have? Maybe that would explain the difference.
