Guest guest
Robin, you might want to think about having your PCP or GI write a letter stating that you CAN have acute pancreatitis with normal and below normal amylase and lipase levels and then list the instructions for the treatment he/she requests for this. Then have the doctor sign it (listing his license #) and then put a copy in your chart. I did this and had to use it this December and I got really good treatment with it this time. Even Hopkin's GI website states that you can have pancreatitis with normal or below normal enzyme levels http://www.hopkins-gi.org/pages/latin/templates/index.cfm?pg=disease1 & organ=4 & di\ sease=24 & lang_id=1 Under the Diagnosis section, Biochemical Measurements, the very first line. Hope this is of some help to youk -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Note: All advice given is personal opinion, not equal to that of a licensed physician or health care professional.
