Hmmmm this is what I was thinking. The problem is that I am very concerned

about the amounts of meat my kids are consuming. Is chicken better than

beef? I am assuming that organic is best in all circumstances but I have

read a lot about limiting meat and not sure how to possibly do that.

my son's DAN says ABSOLUTELY NO FISH AT ALL. He says even the fish that are

grown right here in the city in the fish hatchery are contaminated with

metals- the metals leach in through the ground, I think.

Anyway, he says NO fish at all. No canned fish, no lake fish, no

crustaceans, nothing. Which is fine with me. Anything that used to live

underwater turns my stomach.

Here's what I do (but I do use seafood). I alternate between meat, fish

and poultry which means abouut twice a week for each. My favorite

meat is lamb chops. I make chicken burgers often, liver once in a

while, use veal and pork, beef only occasionally, but also shrimp, and

scallops. Sometimes, a good meatless but protein dish like Zucchini

lasagna is nice made with DCCC

Carol,

Is rotating proteins the recommended SCD procedure?

If the foods are approved what is the need to rotate?

I understood the need to rotate pre-SCD while on the GFCF because foods

were becoming " allergy foods " on an increasing basis, but I believed that

on the SCD diet all foods were permissible at all times - that is once

they were introduced and accepted by the individual body.

Please correct me in this early stage of SCD so that I don't make some

bad habits.

Along the same vein; what is the theory about large intakes of protein?

My son, age 9, is underweight and only now beginning SCD in earnest. I am

almost certain the proteins are going down the toilet, but he desires

massive amounts of proteins and veggies; fruits we limit due to high

sugar and giggles.

I'm not sure how much you are wanting to limit meat...

I serve a lot of veggies. Probably 3 times as many veggies per meal

as meat.

Thanks Carol for your information! My current plan is to rotate the meats

(pork, beef, chicken) just for variety and to see what is tolerated best. I

was hoping to add fish but it probably isn't a good idea unless I can find

safe options.

Basically, I am concerned about serving red meat every day. I am switching

to all organic and was wondering if anyone had specific recommendations on

the amount of red meat per week.or how much poultry should be consumed.

Right now my kids get red meat and poultry every day.

Kelli,

Pork and veal are not such red meats and lamb is from a young animal

and not as red as beef.

BTW: Everyone, don't forget to trim your posts please. Thanks.
