Guest guest
Hi there Louie. I should have said in the post I'm originally from Youngstown (born and lived there for 35 years), but now live in Wilmington, N.C. I lived in East Liverpool from 1998 until 2000, when I left to come back to North Carolina. I worked as a reporter in East Liverpool. I lived in Charlotte, N.C., from 1995 until 1998 until I moved back to Ohio. Small world, huh. My ex-husband was a truck dispatcher at Weirton Steel for a brief time. My dad died of pancreatic cancer and I know he loved the clinic and felt like they took good care of him. I'm sorry I don't remember any of his doctors names. I would have thought Pittsburgh was a good place to go, but I guess not. I'll remember that if I ever move back up there. What kind of work did you do before disability. I may be going down that road in the future if I can't get the pain under control. Tammy
Guest guest
Dear sweet Louie, You said a couple things in your post that really struck home. The first was when you were talking about your daughter's wedding - the one that you had to see pictures of to believe that you hadn't missed it.....hahaha, that's a laugh, I can see it, though, you lying there in the hospital all drugged up and fuzzy from the pain meds....forgetting what you'd already done the wedding two weeks ago! That would be me. Then you said that you and Ed had imagined all these plans for yourselves and things that you'd do now that you were this age and the girls grown, but that " everything depends on how I'm feeling " and that " I wouldn't have guessed that at this age I would be take it one day at a time " .....both of those statements are so true of how I feel, too! And, yeah, when I was younger, I never thought that this is what it would be like for me at 52! I came from such an active, athletic, outdoorsy environment and background that I thought I'd still be doing all those things, and more, because I've got so much more free time. My eldest brother (56) is a sky diving instructor, alpine and nordic skiier and scuba diver, the next elder brother (54) is still spending weekends alpine racing in senior's events and golfing every week, and here I am, hardly able to complete the vacuuming! My husband even bought me one of those robotic vacuums that roll around the house and do the vacuuming automatically, but I'm too sore to bend over and plug it in......yikes! It's not that bad, but everything seems to depend on the good days vs. the bad days, and since there are so many bad ones I get resentful that I have to use any of the good days playing catch up. Oh well, that's 'nuff whining. I'm glad to see you back with us, and hope that your better days are outnumbering the bad ones. Get out there with your friends for lunch, or some quality " girl " time as much as you can, and enjoy! It sounds like Ed's doing the right stuff with his diabetes so far, and I'm glad for that, too. Take good care, Louie. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. PAI, Intl.
