Vicki,

That's interesting about the hiatal hernia. A very small one was found at the

base of my esophagus when I had my upper endoscopy (EGD) last February.

At the time my old GI said that as long as I wasn't having heartburn

symptoms or anything like that, that the hernia wasn't anything to worry about

and it shouldn't cause me any trouble.

Up until this week, it hasn't. Yet he has been known to be wrong about things

before. Yesterday and last night it didn't bother me at all, I ate a good sized

dinner and had no problems afterward. So I am hoping whatever it was has

passed, and should know after a few more days of regular eating. But it's

good to know that the hiatal hernia, especially after not having any food in the

stomach for a period of time, can be symptomatic of this complaint. If it

continues, I will know where to start to look for reasons, and I will mention

this

to my doctor this coming week.

Thanks for the information.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi

but we were finally told the he has a hiatus hernia (SP) and that is was

because he has been feed via TPN and NJ for over 6 months and as he had

not had any food in his stomach in that time that his acid had become a major

problem and also his oesophagus had become bigger in to the stomach and

that sometimes after eating it can twist and cause the pain and then untwist

and thats why the next day you can feel well as if nothing has happened.
