Guest guest
Eating " mostly protein " is NOT really advisable. You are definitely asking for constipation there. TWO green beans is the only vegetable he's eating? Has he not been eating the legal carrots from the intro diet? You've got to add in some sort of vegetable or fruit or he'll end up possibly going into ketosis or something. This is not a low carb diet! The way he's eating right now is like Atkins or something.... not SCD! Are the " liquids " he's drinking in the form of fruit juice? At least then he would be getting some form of carbohydrate.... but I think you really MUST get some fiber in the form of veggies and fruits! Patti, mom to Katera constipation .... Prunes during intro phase? My son is going into day 5 with no bm. We are on day 3 of diet, so he is eating mostly protein (cooked chicken, eggs). I made him eat 2 cooked green beans tonight for a little fiber. My first batch of yogurt is resting in the frig. I have no idea if it will turn out right or not. We started this diet because of yeast concerns. Am I asking for trouble if I give him prunes this early? He is drinking plenty of liquids. I started him back on legal magnesium and Vit. c today. Thanks, A
Guest guest
He is getting some cooked carrots hidden in the chicken puree/egg pancakes. He is refusing cooked veggies, and fruit. He wants raw apples and carrots -- keeps asking for an apple. But, when I offer it cooked, he won't eat it. He did eat a frozen banana pureed into " ice cream " today. He drinks diluted welches white grape juice -- 3 parts water to 1 part juice. Finally had a small compact bm tonight, but not the cleansing I hoped for with yeast die off. Should I go ahead and give him the raw fruit he is requesting? He has always loved fruit, but maybe fruit is causing our yeast problem. Raw is a pretty advanced phase, but frankly, I have never seen much undigested food in his stool. So, maybe digestibility is not an issue for him. I do want to avoid anything that will feed yeast though. Any thoughts? A > > Eating " mostly protein " is NOT really advisable. Guest guest
A, I'm glad to hear he is getting the carrots and the banana. You didn't mention those in your other post. I can only go by what you've typed in this message and the last one... and other than the two green beans you mentioned before, it looks like the carrots are pureed with the chicken, the banana was pureed, etc. That's good, I think... because you're breaking it down as much as possible. Making it easier to digest. However, I know this is not what you want to hear, but it is really TOO SOON for raw fruit and veggies. I can understand how badly he wants them.... that's what he was used to... but right now, they will impair his progress on SCD. Try to remember that the things he is craving are likely the things that the " bad gut bugs " are craving... so they are sending him the messages to " go get provisions for us! " . He will beg for those foods, based on the signals he is getting from those critters who are desperate to survive. You're only on day 3... so he likely WILL have cravings for a little while longer. I'm glad you re-started the magnesium. That will probably help with constipation. How much are you giving... and what form? Elaine included the constipation protocol specifically to help with C that is not uncommon in the beginning. I guess you would need to choose between the potential for " feeding yeast " and the fact that he is constipated. I personally think alleviating the C is higher priority at the moment. The prune nectar/orange juice protocol would not be something you do daily on an ongoing basis... probably just a time or two until things settle down a bit more. If you're going to introduce yogurt right away, that will actually be a great way to keep yeast from taking over as bacteria die-off and healing begins. Remember... you are only on day 3... the REAL die-off could be yet to begin, and could last for several weeks. It doesn't all happen in just the first few days. Try to hang in there. Patti constipation .... Prunes during intro phase? > > > My son is going into day 5 with no bm. We are on day 3 of diet, so he is eating mostly > protein (cooked chicken, eggs).
