Hi!

I'm just starting to get all the diet foods together to start my 10

year old son (Ricki - severely Autistic with lots of behavorial

problems) on SCD. I'm confused about the cheeses allowed. Does the

label have to say " no lactose " ??? I bought some mild cheddar cheese

that says on the label:

" Natural Mild Cheddar Cheese, Made from raw milk, aged over 60

days, Rennetless, No colors or preservatives added, Farmer Certified

rBST-free "

The ingredigients say: " Cultured milk, salt, microbial enzymes " .

If this is NOT ok then what kind of store would you find the lactose

free cheeses in? The only products with " NO lactose " labels were

cheese substitute products.

Please help!!! My some already loves the cheddar cheese but is it on

the SCD????

Thank-you so much,

Maureen

That cheese is fine, Maureen. :)

The label doesn't have to say " lactose free " . The aging process in cheddar (and

other cheeses) is important. Just stick to the list of legal cheeses in Breaking

the Vicious Cycle.
