Guest guest
Hi,Lori how much does she weigh? alot of times they base it on weight, height and age. My son is on Pancrecarb ms-8 and is doing great with it, previously he was on the creon, he had horrible tummy pains and horrible bowel problems. He doesn't have those problems anymore, this enzyme is great. Now when was stwiched over he did have more to take of the pancrecarb, he now is 5 years old and takes 3 with meals and two with snacks. I would definitly call the clinic just to make sure since you actually didn't get to talk to someone. Has she been using the new dosage? How is it affecting her? Hope everything is well. mommy of 5 years old w/cf/adhd and 2 years old no cf

Guest guest
Hi Lori, Many people do end up taking less enzymes with Pancrecarb (often half of what they needed before), but you might start off with the recommended dose then watch her and adjust down. You said she's also taking Prilosec. Does her doctor check her B vitamin levels since she's on this med? Aztra-Zeneca (makers of Prilosec) recommends having B levels checked annually since Prilosec reduces B vitamin absorption. When B vitamins are low, appetite can become dulled, and magnesium absorption is reduced. And when magnesium is low, then you often see more digestive problems, especially too much stomach acid and low bile secretion, which results in malabsorption (loose, frequent floating stools, yellow or orange oil, etc.). This was done over the phone and through the mail and I have a question. The bottle says for her to take five pancrecarbs with a meal and four with a snack, which is the same dosage she took of Creon 10. For some reason, I thought she'd need less of the new enzymes. Does anyone know? The levels of lipese, protease and anylase are similar in the two, though not identical. Also, she was taking prilosec twice a day before, and I assume she doesn't need to do that now? I'll call the clinic tomorrow, but I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts. Also, I should mention that her enzymes were changed due to frequent bowel movements and lots of stomachaches. By the way, Mycah is six.
