Guest guest
I just got my dd's stool analisis back. Her Dr's (and I) have thought that she had an obvious systemic yeast problem. The stool culture came back negative for yeast. None was cultured at all. It also came back negative for lactobacillus (good bacteria) none was cultured at all. And low on bifidobacterium, half of the recomended level. (they recomend it be a 4 her's was a 2). Does this make any sense to anyone? Oh and no other bacteria cultured other than good gut bacteria in the normal ranges. We have been doing scd for 4.5 months. Could we have cured her yeast and her gut just hasn't caught up? She eats the 24 hour yogurt like crazy. In fact I called the lab to make sure it was ok for her to be eating the yougurt since it said to stop taking supplimental acidopholis but they said that yogurt doesn't count cause it is a food. Could her yeast reactions be becasue I have systemic yeast and am passing enough on for her to react to it? How can in increase her good bacteria? I got the test results today and my Dr's office isn't open so I'm going crazy trying to figure out what this means. Thanks for any insight. Guest guest
My son's yeast and other bad bugs (2 Seperate times we checked) did not show up on stool culture but only showed up on Great Plain Lab's microbial OAT test (yeast and clostridia...which we treated with compounded metronidazole/fluconazole simulatenously and resulting in better formed poops) Jzin > > I just got my dd's stool analisis back. Guest guest
Patty, I'm sorry it looks like no one has answered your question. I hope the doc can explain it to you next week. I personally have zero experience with stool testing.... we've never done it with our daughter. Maybe this reply will catch someone's eye and get you a response. Patti How could she be low on lactobilli and yet have no yeast? I just got my dd's stool analisis back. Her Dr's (and I) have thought that she had an obvious systemic yeast problem. The stool tests turned up nothing out of the ordinary. I had done the ole' spit in a cup of water home test and that was positive. The mouth swab was positive and nothing turned up in the blood tests. The doc prescribed nystatin but it didn't work for me. I found " yeast specific " enzymes ( I took candizyme) to be quite effective...along with SCD. There may be other more definitive tests that can be done. The big question is how are her symptoms, has she had any changes improvements etc. on the diet. I tend to think that the real proof is in the (SCD) pudding. Guest guest
Hi Patty, > *This message was transferred with a trial version of CommuniGate Pro* > Thanks Sheila, > She was better on scd at first but now she isn't really. The > improvement the first couple of weeks was dramatic but pretty much > nothing since then. What has changed from the first few weeks then/ Do you have a record of what foods she was eating then? How were the foods prepared? Any different supplements then that are different now? Have you added any supplements since that period. Yeast can be a real pain to get rid of, but many have been quite successful. What fruit are you both eating? Is it raw or peeled and cooked? How much of each fruit for her /day? Have you read " Yeast and SCD " at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/files/ - this may help.
