Guest guest
Dear Darcy, First God Bless you for your choice to try SCD! My husband came to SCDiet four months ago asymptomatic (no symptoms). He had been comfirmed as having Celiac Disease though (gold standard/biopsy and EGD). Never had diarrhea in his life! No typical CD symptoms at all! Yet his tummy was bloated like " beer gut " , but he did not drink! He also had irritability, ADD problems and sleep problems. Was said to make it to 6 foot, only grew to 5 foot 8/his bone scan came back positve for osteoporosis a the age of 39! We still implimented the introductory and followed the protocol in the BTVC book. He has healed faster than all of us and now seems to be able to digest and tolerate things rather faster than the rest of us. But we still believe that the books guidelines are the way to go who ever you are. You just may be able to move forward faster than some of us. I would suggest not " jumping " , take your time, regardless what your pace. Elaine said that what the HUMAN body does not digest does harm, she meant all of us. She says in her Celiac chapter how starch is not digested or broken down very well by the human body, not just us silly yaks and GI people. Hope this helps, Antoinette and family of five came to SCD becasue of celiac disease, malabsorption, GERD, IBS, IBD, leaky gut, food intolerances, add, adhd, asd/pdd, hyperekplexia and more SCD 2/06 and all of us are imporving! > > I am new the the diet. Guest guest
If you had been 100% SCD for this long (11 months), I'd say go ahead and try the seeds now. You might have to judge for yourself if you've healed enough to try....given the degree of compiance. Or go ahead and try a small amount and see what happens. Pull them immediately if you notice any negative symptoms. Be sure to chew really well! Patti New to SCD I am new the the diet. I went on the diet because 11 months ago I quit smoking and the detox appears to have thrown my entire system out of whack. I believe that I am suffering from malabsorption and imbalance of flora. Side effects include: major stomach bloating, acid reflux, the worst eczema outbreak I've had in 25 years, pH imbalance and " spaciness " that I've blamed on menopause, but now I wonder. The diet has help with the acid reflux and I do feel better. Have struggled being 100% compliant, especially when I realized my supplements aren't right. I do not have diarrhea which seems to be a big part of why people go on this diet. I am just getting started with the yogurt (my yogurt maker is in the mail) and I think that will help. BTVC says no seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, etc) for the first 3 months. Is that about the diarrhea? If that's not an issue, can I eat seeds? I appreciate any input. Thanks. Guest guest
Darcy, OK.... correcting myself. Sorry... I was VERY worn out when I first read this message and typed my reply. I thought at first that you said you'd been on SCD for 11 months... I now see that you didn't really say how long you've been on the diet. Definitely wait at LEAST three months to try seeds. I'll try to restrain myself from replying when under the influence (of exhaustion) from now on! Patti, mom to Katera (who's had a very difficult week & one nasty mega-seizure requiring a call to 911) New to SCD I am new the the diet. Thanks.
