Guest guest
Hmmm.... you know, I *think* they are okay, but am not absolutely sure. I know plantains are not legal. Hopefully someone else will know and post a more definitive answer. Patti Are " baby bananas " allowed on SCD? I was having a hard time finding overripe bananas a few days back and found some baby bananas that were nice and overripe. Then I thought I better ask if they were allowed before I used them. My doc didn't know so I thought I would come here. If no one knows I figure I will toss them. I don't know what I was thinking buyins a variation of something anyway LOL I was so desparate for a smoothie at the time that is seemed like a good idea. So anyway does anyone know if these are allowed? They are sold in little bags and are about half the length of a standard banana. I have eaten them in the past before SCD and they do have a different texture and taste. If anyone could help me with this I would be most grateful. I have a couple pounds of them going to waste as I write this Tara For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com
Guest guest
hi i dont know if this helps, i found this on the australia scd site - im trying to get my father to start scd as hes terrible ill, he has autism, is 20 stone and his immune system is in absolute bits, but i digress, my point being i found this while looking through, it may not exactly answer your question but it gives you some idea Q: Are sugar/lady-finger bananas legal? " You know the small fat bananas. Are these the same as the Plantain (banana type fruit from south america etc.) which is not legal for SCD? " Concern has been expressed that the small bananas may be too starchy for SCDers. It is recommended that you only use the standard larger bananas that you normally find in supermarkets - as long as you follow the usual rule that they must be very ripe and the skin covered with dark spots before you eat them. However if you are keen to try the sugar bananas and your gut is healthy, you could try letting them get plenty of dark spots on the outside skin, and then start out with a small piece, skip a day and then go to one half, skip a day, and then go to the whole one if all is okay.
