Guest guest
I wrote my congressman and senator about both of these a while back. I just got a standard reply form from the congressman, but the senator wrote a rather nice letter. She said that this legislation was not targeting vitamin and mineral suppliments and most herbals. The wording and aim of the document was to control diet suppliments. Their aim was to better regulate those products that increase matabolism like the ephedra and the ma juang (I know that's not spelled right). I can kind of understand this as when I was a teenager my mom took me to a doctor who vastly proclaimed the wonder of these " new all natural vitamins to help you lose weight. " Here I am 15 years later with an abnormally high heart rate. It would have been nice to know the side effects before I decided to take them. It is probably only God's grace that kept me alive at the time as I did a lot of track and field. There have been many reports over the past several years of teens who have died while taking these suppliments and exercising heavily.
