Guest guest
I don't want to reinvent the wheel. If you have an ASD child with egg allergies and are avoiding dairy, would you please tell me what you are feeding him/her for breakfast? All I've been able to give my daughter is chicken soup, fruit & nut butter. She's never had a diarrhea problem, always constipation. If there is someone else who has found things to feed a child in similar circumstances, please let me know!!! I've read that it's not a good idea to put your child on a " nut diet " , but if you can't give them eggs or dairy, then meat is the only alternative...then if you feed your child too much, there can be ammonia issues... it is so easy to paint oneself into a corner with all this! I haven't been able to try nut yogurt yet because GI Prohealth is so S-L-O-W about getting starter out it's ridiculous (anybody know of alternative sources, please let me know!) I've called them twice for two different products and each time they call me and tell me it's on 3-week backorder! (sorry i'm venting) I would just like to know what you mothers are doing with similar children...and are you having success? Thanks! Theresa mother of 3.9yo autistic and 8.5yo NT. See top of page 64, edition ten of BTVC. You can also make a " granola " by toasting nuts and adding pieces of dried fruits. Sugar free bacon or home made sausage patties are another option. Baked apples and pears are suitable and ripe bananas. You will expand your options if you are able to introduce dairy at some point. You did not say if you intend to remain dairy free. Guest guest
Hi, My daughter has an egg allergy and we aren't currently doing dairy with her as well. I think it is difficult ( in my vast 10-20 days of experience).... we have been eating a lot of squash.. butternut and butter cup with some pear sauce and a bit of honey it makes a good breakfast meal.. add your sausage patties or bacon and it makes a good breakfast.. you can vary it by baking in little cubes and putting pear sauce on it.. mashing and putting pear sauce in it. but that being said, I feel for you.. we aren't even tolerating nuts.. and just today failed watermelon... it's like we are on an extended intro.. because nothing else seems to be working. There are many eggless recipes out there.. I have found that the gelatin egg replacer recipe work better for me than the other.. but it's almost like you have to rely on nuts.... there are so many recipes that just don't work with the egg replacer.. sneaky pancakes for example... anyway, good luck and hope this helps. Also, think outside the box.. have dinners for breakfast ( sigh, and lunch and dinner!) Smile! Ellen daughter Emma 2.5 Eosinophilic colitis SCD 10 days.
Guest guest
I haven't thought about squash. That's a great idea! I have tried sausage; what kind do you use? Since my daughter has sensitivities to onion/garlic, this is kind of out unless I can make my own using shallots. Perhaps after she's been onthe diet for a while, she'll be able to tolerate more. Thanks for squash idea!
