Guest guest
Hi, I am a self-pay who had the MGB last Thursday, August 10. Mine was done at Ambulatory Surgical Center. Doctor R.'s fee was $3200 (plus the $255 fee for the clinic). The anesthetist was $858, and was $7000. I am not sure if I will be billed for more for anes. because my surgery took longer (82 min.) due to scar tissue and adhesions from previous open surgery for gall bladder removal. But is a flat fee of $7000. And that is for one night. You are sent home by 7am the day after surgery. Dr. R. only does MGB on Thurdays at , they close at 7am the next morning. If you need to stay longer they will send you to Durham Regional. Hope that helps. Sherry
Guest guest
Dory, I was a self pay patient. I had my surgery on Aug. 3. My expenses were the same as everyone else's. I had mine done at as well. The only thing I need to warn you about is if you don't have a prescription card be prepared for the expense of the post op meds. I was floored when my husband came home from the pharmacy. Just the carafate, previcid and actigal and vioxx was 440.00. I could not believe it. Just wanted to warn you. Good luck on your journey! Guest guest
Hey Sherry, I am considering having the surgery as a self pay as well. The only problem is I am scared they will have complications with my surgery and my bill will be outrageous! My insurance company has denied me twice and it plainly states in my exclusions that they do not cover for morbid obesity treatment or surgery. Do you recommend being a self pay? I am a healthy 25 year old with no previous surgeries. What do you think? Jada Munn BMI 52 still waiting for MGB!
