Guest guest
There is a constipation protocol on Elaine's website, that involves orange juice and prune nectar. Adding a supplement of magnesium citrate may help, too... but just start with a small amount and work up to where you want to be. Patti Constipation and SCD Yogurt? I'm noticing a little constipation since I've increased my intake of SCD Yogurt. Is this a common occurrence? I've also added mashed cauliflower, asparagus, string beans, pear sauce, custard made with scd yogurt. I do have a little swiss and cheddar during the day but would like to keep it in my diet. I have a little (about three 2 " squares of almond bread) a day too. I love this diet but feel a bit sore when I have to strain, going to the bathroom. I'm drinking more water and juice, hoping that will help. I read on Elaine's site that stewed prunes help. Any special brand of prunes recommended or anything else? I don't want to risk diarrhea again, so hoping for a mild dietary hint. I seem to always go from either loose to constipation. I guess it takes a while to straighten this out. Guest guest
Thanks Patti, Just wondered if the SCD Yogurt could possibly cause this " sluggishness " or if it it's just cheese in general, because at first I was leery about increasing the yogurt, concerned it may do the opposite and cause more loose stools. Thanks again and have a good evening. Guest guest
hi we always get some constipation when we introduce/increase goat yogurt, we hold at that amount until bms return to normal and then we increase again. for us constipation is evidence of yeast, so we go small and slow with the yogurt. sometimes i find using 1 or 2 teaspoons of liquid paraffin helps just to get things moving - i find the prune juice can antagonise yeast for us. we are using goats cheese and butter which also can sometimes be constipating so ive been told, also im know that cauli is quite fibrous and therefore can also be constipating, or cause the opposite, depending on the child/person. however, the cheese/butter isnt an issue for us this time round and we are still in the early stages, having plenty of diluted juice and fruit generally can also help to loossen things - sorry its so longwinded, just trying to remember everything ive been told, when we did the diet the first time round - this our 3rd attempt (for resons out of my control), we were all incredibly constipated hth in some small way emma 32 kai 8 asd dspx fian behaviorally recovered with enzymes but still experiencing bowel problems, scd 7 weeks now. > > Thanks Patti, > Just wondered if the SCD Yogurt could possibly cause this > " sluggishness " or if it it's just cheese in general, because at > first I was leery about increasing the yogurt, concerned it may > do the opposite and cause more loose stools. > > Thanks again and have a good evening. > > Ronnie > > > > > There is a constipation protocol on Elaine's website, that involves > orange juice and prune nectar. > > > > Adding a supplement of magnesium citrate may help, too... but just > start with a small amount and work up to where you want to be. > > > > Patti > > Constipation and SCD Yogurt? > > > > > > I'm noticing a little constipation since I've increased my intake > of > > SCD Yogurt. Guest guest
Thank you for the information. It helps to know that the yogurt and cauliflower may be the culprits!
