Guest guest
Our boy is 4 months old too and has had his helmet for about 2 weeks now. I'll be honest that I didn't notice his mishapen head, our doctor did. When she brought it up, my husband said he'd noticed it too. To me was perfect. Anyway, we did PT for about 6 weeks to make sure that his range of motion was not impaired. We also did some repositioning during this time. Our PT did some research for us and found out that Hanger does free evaluations. Our doctor recommended we take advantage of it. The orthotist recommended getting the helmet for a couple of reasons. One, is a boy and will have short hair most of his life (as long as Dad is around anyway) and because his condition would not correct itself. It may never get better, but it won't correct without some help. It sucks that our insurance won't pay for the helmet, but neither my husband nor I hesitated to say, yes, we want to do this for our son. And it turns out that the helmet doesn't bother one bit. I don't know if I've been any help, you don't have anything to feel guilty about. -- > > Hi there, > I am glad I found this support group.
