Guest guest
Has he been medically tested to be found lactose intolerant, or testerd by an allergest to be found allergic to milk (totally different); one of our non-cf kids was violently lactose intolerant and they tested her for it, and advised us against using anything but cream, but then that kid, as was always true with anything she had (nocf), was a major case of whatever she had. Testing is not a bad idea. Love to yours and to you, n Rojas
Guest guest
Pediasure is also lactose free and comes in 3 different flavors. Lactaid drops are only sold in Canada now. You can go to feelbest.com to buy them, but they are really expensive. Super Wal-marts must carry Lactaid whole milk because they have a contract. I am not sure about Dairyease. That company was not as helpful as Lactaid. Boost pudding is lactose-free. Carnation Instant Breakfast does have lactose, but you can add it to milk and then use the drops. Scandishakes are lactose-free. Guest guest
Zach has not been tested for it. We have been experimenting and he seems less gassy with the Lactaid. He will refuse to drink regular whole milk and push the cup away. He will drink the Lactaid for some reason. Based on his reaction I have concluded that he is lactose intolerant. Perhaps he is just being a picky toddler but I really have nothing else to go on. Luckily he is not allergic to milk protein. His nutritionist says that makes weight gain really tough for cfers. Guest guest
Just a word from the wise concerning Lactose free milk. Dairyease is the most foul tasting stuff you could ever imagine. I bought it on sale the other day. It was absolutely horrible. I am one of the cheapest people in the world and I hate to throw anything out but with Dairyease, I made an exception. I wrote and complained to the company it bothered me so much and they sent a check to reimburse me which was nice but I wouldn't give it to a any kid with CF and eating problems, it will make them never want to drink milk again. - mom to Emma 3 years w/cf and Isabelle almost 5 wo/cf On Wed, 06 Aug 2003 01:27:20 -0000 " dwson2 " writes: > Hi Everyone, > My son seems to be lactose intolerant so I wanted to let everyone > know what I have learned. Guest guest
I have tasted that as well and it is horrible. I am sure there are people out there that can handle it but as for me and my babies ( I do not think so ) At least you got your money back. I never thought about complaining to the comp. Good thought Ashauna
Guest guest
On the Lactose Intolerance issue FYI ALL Kraft shredded cheeses (in the ziplock bags) contain 0g of Lactose. This solved our pizza issue. Also out here in NY I have found that Bryers makes a lactose free Ice Cream. Only seems to come in Vanilla but I am able to get for the sale price sometimes as low as $1.99. Lactaid has never been a cheap item in the Ice Cream dept. Also I have found Soy Ice Cream sandwiches. Hope this helps someone!
