Congratulations on the success! This makes it all worth it doesn't it?

I would definitely do a true intro. This is the way that I have been taught

to do it, and we are seeing many food intolerances vanish. Plus remarkable

success in changing ASD behavior (this was true for us). You may discover that

this is true for you too. WE came casein free and diary intolerant. And now

can enjoy our cheese and yogurts. I hope that your daughter can enjoy SCD pizza

again soon. We did our intro for a bit longer than the BTVC book called for/10

days...since we where not digesting food very well....Elaine say 3 days for

most. Then we listened to Ealine's suggestion on when to add foods in Chapter 9

and 10. This is truly working well for us. WE are also going slow with

introducing advanced foods. Trying to respect what Elaine said: " what the body

doesn't digest does harm " ...because it feeds the bad gut guys and ferments. Try

intro again...and see if you can add the cheese and dairy yogurt back in before

the year is out...you may not have to wait this long. Experiment. Be careful

not to use Bifidus (like Elaine told us) I know some books that you mentioned

reading, recommend this probiotic.... this is very counterproductive to SCD

healing and success and will interfere with SCD TM progress.

God Bless Antoinette and Family of five SCD 2/06 (celiac, add, adhd, autism,

multiple food intolerance and more)

Eileen,

Congrats on seeing good things! Wonderful idea to go back and re-start with the

intro diet. Then, be sure to hold off on adding in raw foods too soon. Keep

peeling and cooking! Just makes everything easy to digest. I hope you'll be

giving an acidophilus supplement, since she won't be getting SCD yogurt.

I remember the night wetting subject coming up several years back on this list.

A few parents commented that magnesium supplements helped, but there was a trick

to getting the dosage balanced just right. Also, the form of magnesium makes a

big difference...with both citrate and oxide forms being laxative, less

absorbable and possibly even encouraging yeast. I think they said the glycinate

form was best.Sorry if I'm telling you stuff you already know. :)

Just a thought. I suppose it's deep in the archives somewhere... either here or

at the Lyris list.

Breakthrough to report

Dear List:

My oldest daughter , who is 8 has been wetting her bed since about the age of

6, has not wet her pull up for almost two weeks! (She had stopped wearing pull

ups at approximately 2 1/2 -3 years of age (she would still occasionally wet the

bed but it was not an issue). She has not done this in almost 2 years. I also

think I see some calming down, less hyperactivity. She has complained she's

tired. It might be die off.

Approximately, 3 weeks ago I took most dairy off her diet, only very little

ghee and butter.

Some background, at age 6 she started slowly wetting her bed almost nightly.

At 6 1/2, her teachers wanted her tested for ADHD. At 7 she was diagnosed as

having ADHD.

I took her off the legal SCD dairy to see if I would get some additional

gains. Although her learning ability had improved on SCD, she was still have

some distraction issues and hyperactivity with salicylates. Recently, I had read

the article " Managing Autism " and the GAPs book and I decided I never really

went very long without dairy. About 3 months ago, I took away most legal juices

(only apple cider in smoothies otherwise she only drinks water) and she did seem

to wet her bed less but still at least 2 times weekly and then sometimes 4-5

nights in a row. She always had only legal dairy but evidently it was affecting

her.

Anyway I plan to go without dairy for a while and do nut yogurt instead. Then

I will try to introduce the yogurt. I am going to try to wait with the legal

cheeses for a year. It will be difficult without her favorite pizza w/ cheese.

I wanted to share and get any comments from others. I am thinking about doing

the Intro again. I never did a true true Intro. Just fed them lots of chilcken

soup but they had uncooked fruit. My daughter said she may try to do it. I am

going to try to do it next week. I am very excited. Eileen Brown
