I think you will be very pleaseds with the SCD diet and the good food of which there is pelnty. There is a yogurt maker by Donvier but Yogurtmet seems to be the favorite around here ( use an oven and a 60 watt lightbulb for making yogurt). You don't need a breadmaker. Our bread dough is easily made in a food processor like a Cusinart, Kitchenaid etc. All the best! Carol F. SCD 6 years, celiac
Guest guest
The good news is that you can save the money of not buying a breadmaker. You won't need one. The SCD breads can all be easily prepared and baked in an oven. I'd spend the money that was going towards the breadmaker on a good food processor. You will use one A LOT! As for yogurt makers, I do like my Yogourment, but I've never used the Salton one. So, I can't say which is best. Perhaps someone with the Salton one will speak up for it. Welcome to the list! Guest guest
A bread maker won't help you as the breads we make do not need to be kneaded or have time to rise. It will be just like making a banana bread. We use baking soda which will rise in the oven as it cooks. Definately get the yogurtmet from www.lucyskitchenshop.com as well as her yogurtmet starter. Great stuff. Advice: Its one step forward and two steps back. It took years for you to get sick so count on it taking years to get fully better although the hope is that you will see some improvement right away. Consider it a life change ....for the best!! Guest guest
I have both of these yogart makers. I had the salton for about a yr before we started SCD and have been happy with it. I still use it when I make up a qt of French cream but I found it pretty hard to keep up with the yogart demand when you have to process it for total of 36 hrs. I then bought the Yogourmet and love it. I can do up 2- 3 batches a week and we are kept in yogart. If you get extra jars for it I would recommend the glass jars though as I have had trouble with the plastic one cracking. Lucy said it was because I was pouring my milk into it to hot but I really like the glass ones better anyway. Another piece of equipment that I use a tremendous amount is my Bamix. http://www.pleasanthillgrain.com/bamix.asp Sandy M. > > Hello, everyone, > > I am new to this group.
