Guest guest
Hi all, I have been using a topical cream on my son for quite a while. He has been ok with it as long as I give him half the prescribed dose. If I try to increase, then he starts to react. I thought that he was having trouble tolerating the active ingredient (glutathione), but have recently learned that the base contains soy and other illegals. Now I am very suspicious that the problem has not been the glutathione but the base itself. I am going to try another brand. The one I am looking at has Isopropyl mysristate and caprylic/capric acid in it. Does anyone know if these ingredients are ok to use? Also, has anyone else had a bad reaction to an illegal topical? Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi , In terms of SCD, we don't worry about what goes on the skin... so lotions, shampoos, and other topicals are not an issue... unless the child is likely to eat them. Elaine always said we only need to be concerned with what goes " down the hatch " . Each child is different, of course, and if your son is reacting to this cream, by all means try changing to the other. It's outside the realm of " SCD rules " , though... so no need to worry about it from that perspective, so those ingredients you've listed are not an SCD issue.
